Tiger Woods Foundation appoints new CEO

Published

on

Tiger Woods continues to spare no time during his medical absence from the PGA Tour.

Woods, who has been constantly refining his business ventures over the past year, has named a new CEO, Rick Singer, the former vice president of IBM’s Client Executive Marketing, to the Tiger Woods Foundation (TWF).

According to the Tiger Woods Foundation’s media release on Tuesday, Singer will be taking over the position of CEO in June.

“Singer will lead the foundation that currently operates seven Tiger Woods Learning Centers, the nationwide Earl Woods Scholarship Program and six signature fundraising events, including three PGA Tour tournaments,” the TWF announced.

In a stament to GolfWeek, Woods expressed the importance of his charity work and confirmed his confidence that Singer will be a great asset to the foundation’s board.

Singer, a New Jersey native and Rutgers University graduate, plans to bring with him more than 20 years of sports and business management experience ranging from work in the NBA to global sponsorships in the Masters, the U.S. Open (golf), the Tennis Grand Slams and Tony Awards.

“I’m thrilled about the opportunity to work for a nonprofit organization that makes such a strong impact on young students,” Singer said in a TWF press release. “The Tiger Woods Foundation is a leader in philanthropy and event planning, and I’m looking forward to working with this dedicated team.”

According to the TWF, Singer will replace Greg McLaughlin, former foundation president and CEO from 2000-to-2014. McLaughlin is now working for the PGA Tour.

Established in 1996, the Tiger Woods Foundation is a non-profit whose main purpose is to provide global outreach to students looking to attend college.
