Rory throws club, misses cut at BMW PGA Championship

After blowing out the field last week, Rory McIlroy looked like a different golfer at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this week — and not in a good way.
The defending champions’ bubbling frustrations popped on the 17th hole of his first round, where Rory threw his fairway wood after a poor second shot.
It didn’t get better from there. The world’s No. 1-ranked golfer shot rounds of 71-78 (5-over) to miss the cut.
What happened after last week’s seven-shot victory at Quail Hollow?
[quote_center]”Physically, I’m all right,” McIlroy told reporters after the round. “Mentally, I feel myself getting a bit angry out there, which I haven’t been doing the last few weeks.”[/quote_center]
Rory tees it up again next week at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation at Royal County Down Golf Club. Will we see club-throwing or dominance from him next week?

@Golfraven. “Don’t do the Tiger.” What?!! He will never “do the Tiger” until he starts launching F bombs on live television. Eldrick is in a class all by his lonesome with the sailor mouth. The most
fined player in PGA Tour history. Ignoring fans, and becoming a general jerk are also fantastic
qualities Sir Rory has not yet acquired. Oh, and multiple floriated terms to describe his day to day
ailments that haunt his deteriorating goff shwing. No, I think Rorz has a way to go before he attains
Eldrick’s status as a jack_ _ s!

Come on Rory, don’t do the Tiger. Throwing clubs is not the way to go – purely embarrassing. Just accept the fact that you are tired, take deep breath and move on to next tournament. I would expect more class from a #1. Not great example for young kids, they will think this is acceptable.

Yet another example of just how great Tiger Woods’ run was…71/2 years without missing a cut, missing fewer cuts than he has majors in his career, etc. One day we’ll look back in wonder at that kind of consistency

This is getting old… A great example of the double standard in golf. Rory breaks clubs, throws them in the water, etc and people say “He’s young!” or “I like seeing the emotion!”, firstly, Rory is a year older than me and I don’t see how our age would have anything to do with it. Secondly, If a guy like Tiger did any of that stuff people would be going crazy saying “He needs to calm down! He’s out of control!”. People freak out when Tiger say some “bad” words and they are asking for punishment or suspension because they don’t want their children to hear words… But they don’t care if they see a guy with anger management issues like we’ve seen from Rory lately.
This weeks excuse from Rors will be “I’m playing too much. I need a break. I’m fatigued.” When he missed the cut at Honda earlier in the season, the excuse was “I’m not playing enough. I just need to get in more reps in competition.”

I threw a club once. It happens. He’s 25. It happens a lot. He’s playing a huge stretch of golf.
