WATCH: Finau’s ridiculously lucky bounce leads to huge comeback at the 2018 Ryder Cup

Starting with an opening-hole win, Justin Rose and Jon Rahm fully controlled the fourball match against Brooks Koepka and the Ryder Cup rookie Tony Finau.

Despite an early eagle chip-in from Finau on the 6th hole, Rahm/Rose were 3-up through 10 holes. It was a sure win and full point for the European team. Koepka then birdied the 11th and 13th holes, but Rose birdied 12, so Rahm/Rose remained 1 up with three holes to play.

But then, on the intimidating 16th hole par 3 with water guarding the tucked pin, Finau’s ball, which was certainly headed to a watery grave, got an all-time bounce off the railroad ties and the ball settled 4-feet from the hole.

Despite boos from the European crowd, Finau rolled in the birdie.

With the match all-square heading into the last hole, Brooks, Finau and Rose all hit their drives deep down the middle, with Rahm in the right rough. Rose shushed the crowd after hitting his tee shot, but then hit his approach shot into the water trying to attack the difficult pin location. Rahm was forced to layup from his thick lie in the rough, and failed to get up-and-down from the fairway.

So, in the end, Brooks and the rookie Finau were able to pull off the comeback, which was sparked by maybe the luckiest shot in Ryder Cup history.

Wow.
