Flatstick fantasy: 2nd Swing’s Putter Reserve is a wonder to behold

The 2nd Swing Putter Reserve in Scottsdale is a dream destination for golf equipment lovers, blending elements of a museum and high-end gallery to showcase some of the rarest and most unique putters in the game. Nestled within the 2nd Swing vault, this dedicated space features putters displayed in glass cases alongside a striking “headcover wall” with collectible covers available for purchase. The collection includes everything from limited-edition Ping “Patent 55” putters to ultra-rare Scotty Cameron designs, including pre-Titleist handmade models and fully restored masterpieces.
Beyond its stunning array of putters, the Reserve also houses exclusive one-of-a-kind pieces, like a newly acquired series of 24k gold-plated Scotty Cameron putters commemorating legendary tour victories — including Tiger Woods’ historic Tiger Slam set. Whether you’re an avid collector, a putter aficionado, or simply a golfer who appreciates craftsmanship, the Putter Reserve offers an experience like no other—a true golfer’s paradise in the heart of Scottsdale.
We wanted to learn a little more about this golf equipment Shangri-La, and 2nd Swing’s Ryan Helin was kind enough to answer all our questions.
GolfWRX: GolfWRXers are familiar with 2nd Swing as the destination for new and pre-owned clubs. However, they may not be familiar with your Putter Seserve in Scottsdale. What can you tell us about it?
Ryan Helin: Our “Putter Reserve” is a dedicated space within our Scottsdale store where we display our coolest and most unique putters within the 2nd Swing Vault! The Putter Reserve is a bit of a crossover between a museum and a high-end art gallery, as the space features both for-sale and not-for-sale items. Putters are housed in glass casing, and the “headcover wall” features cool headcovers available for purchase.
GolfWRX: How did this come about? What’s the origin story?
RH: We’re constantly striving to create top-tier experiences in our stores, giving customers even more reasons to stop by and discover exclusive finds they won’t see anywhere else. As our collection of limited edition putters grew, we realized we needed a dedicated space to showcase them while offering a unique experience for golfers. We can’t urge those who have yet to see the golfer’s paradise that is our Scottsdale location strongly enough to rectify that as soon as possible!
GolfWRX: Can you highlight a couple of examples from the reserve?
RH: The Putter Reserve currently showcases all four models from the Ping “Patent 55” collection, released throughout 2022 to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the iconic Anser design patent. The Anser revolutionized putter design and paved the way for countless future models, making this limited-edition release a fitting tribute to its lasting legacy.
GolfWRX: For Scotty Cameron enthusiasts, I know you have a few impressive items! Can you share some of those putters?
RH: There’s no shortage of awesome Scotty Cameron putters in the Putter Reserve! I’ll narrow it down to a “top 3” and highlight some of the more unique models that might not be as well-known.
“Scott Cameron” SCM Handmade Putter – During my 10 years at 2nd Swing, I’ve encountered only a handful of these Handmade putters. They date back to a time before Scotty Cameron officially produced putters under the Titleist name, with all stamping done entirely by hand by Scotty himself!
Scotty Cameron Golo Tour Proto Knucklehead – Who doesn’t love a welded plumber’s neck? This Tour Golo is one of the most unique we’ve encountered, featuring Scotty’s signature “Knucklehead” pipe neck, a sleek blacked-out sole and face, and a limited-edition U.S. Open-themed SuperStroke grip. A true standout for any collector or player!
Scotty Cameron French Laundry Fastback 1.5 Putter – This rare putter arrived in rough shape, but given its exclusivity, we knew it deserved a second chance. So, we sent it to the Scotty Cameron Custom Shop for a full restoration, returning it to its original glory with a stunning Chromatic Bronze finish. With only 60 ever released in honor of world-renowned chef Thomas Keller, this is number 44.
GolfWRX: I’ve heard tell of an upcoming gold putter series. Anything you can tell us about that?
RH: We recently collaborated with a collector to acquire an exclusive collection of one-of-a-kind Scotty Cameron putters, each plated in 24k gold! Crafted by Scotty himself between 1997 and 2002, these putters commemorate Tour victories from those seasons. They were later showcased at the PGA Show for that season, helping Cameron establish his name early in his career.
The collection includes putters honoring legendary players such as Tiger Woods, David Duval, Phil Mickelson, Justin Leonard, Sergio Garcia, and more. The crown jewel of the collection is a complete set of all four putters used by Tiger Woods during the historic “Tiger Slam,” commemorating his incredible feat of holding all four Major titles following his victory at the 2001 Masters. The 1997 wave is also particularly special, with each putter hand-stamped on the face with the winner’s name and tournament details. Every putter is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) and a nameplate, making it ready for display.
The collection is now on display at our Scottsdale store, within the Putter Reserve, as well as our Dallas store location. Feedback from our customers who have seen the collection in person has been fantastic. This is truly a must-see for any golf enthusiast!
2nd Swing’s Scottsdale store is located at 9130 E Talking Stick Way in The Pavilions at Talking Stick Shopping Center.

Below are the results of GolfWRX member voting for the 2025 best driver, along with the vote percentage for each club.
Best driver of 2025: The top 5
5. Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond: 6.02%
Callaway’s pitch: “For golfers looking for a fast, forgiving, yet workable driver, the Elyte Triple Diamond features a tour-inspired shape and is the preferred model by most Callaway tour players.”

4. Ping G440 Max: 6.86%
Ping’s pitch: “The most forgiving G440 model, MAX has a hotter face to generate speed and distance, and a lighter overall system weight with a longer shaft (46″) for faster clubhead speed, higher launch and longer carries. The Free Hosel and Carbonfly Wrap crown save weight to create our lowest CG ever and increase forgiveness while contributing to a more muted, pleasing sound.”

3. Ping G440 LST: 9.53%
Ping’s pitch: “LST is an especially good fit for faster swings, offering less spin and more control with a penetrating trajectory. A hotter face, lighter overall system weight and longer shaft (46″) deliver more speed and distance while maintaining tight dispersion.”
@phizzy30: “Not a fan of Ping drivers in general, but 440 LST takes the cake. It’s super forgiving across the face for a low spin head, looks and sounds good and the ability to make it play neutral or slightly fade biased through the hosel settings is very appealing.”

2. Titleist GT3: 16.55%
Titleist’s pitch: “The GT3 Driver offers Titleist’s boldest combination of power and personalization through adjustable performance. Dial in the CG Track to your frequent contact location to make your biggest drives even bigger while taking total control over flight and shaping.”
@mrmikeac: “I’ve been Anti-Titleist for years and years and years (outside of Vokey, of course). With that being said, HOLY BEGEEZUS the GT3 driver is an absolute NUCLEAR MONSTER! This thing blew my G430 10K Max out of the water in every single category. Forgiveness is the biggest thing that stands out of me, the 3 model has always been one of the less forgiving models in the past but this GT3 can take bad shot after bad shot and still end up in the fairway, I think a ton of that has to do with the adjustability, it’s actually effective. Feel and sound is perfect, that solid crack is so addicting to hear and when you hit it out the screws this thing can absolutely bomb it. Titleist, I’m sorry for doubting you. You have converted me.”

1. Titleist GT2: 22.91%
Titleist’s pitch: “Delivering impressive distance from any impact point, the Titleist GT2 Driver extracts maximum performance through a forgiving design. Get the stability and added confidence of a high-MOI driver without sacrificing speed.”
@DTorres: “The Titleist GT2 has proven to be the best driver of the year. Packaged in a classic profile, GT2 perfectly balances performance and forgiveness while consistently being a high performer across all categories.”
