Pettersson Leads Fry’s Open

Carl Petterson’s 64 gave him a one shot lead over Mark Hensby and Mike Weir after the third round of the Fry’s Open.

Second round leader Ryan Moore was one of three players in the top 25 not breaking par on a 90+ degree day in Scottsdale and finds himself 3 shots back at 10 under par along with Jarrod Lyle.

"I played nice," Pettersson said. "I only missed two greens and didn’t give myself any real opportunities to make bogeys. I played steady, and I putted pretty good, too." Mr. Hensby, playing in the same group had a share of the lead until hitting into two sand traps to bogey the 18th hole. Having entered the week at 151st on the money list that folly miffed him enough to avoid reporters after the round. Of course most people with any sense avoid reporters at every opportunity so this comes as no surprise.

Mr. Hensby’s 68 dropped him into a tie with Mike Weir at 12 under par. "For the most part, I’ve put it on the smart side of the hole this week," Weir said. "That’s what you have to do around here. The greens are very difficult, so you have to put it on the right spots."

Mr. Moore couldn’t buy a putt, burning the edge on numerous occasions, and bogeying two of the last three holes.

I have to wonder about this whole fall series thing. I need to look up the television viewership numbers to be sure, but up against college football on Saturday and the NFL on Sunday who but the diehards are left to watch these events? Even the Golf Channels repeat at night butts up against the baseball playoffs. For my penny and a half, the golf season is still way too long.

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
