Billy Horschel made his caddie a millionaire

Published

on

After winning the 2015 PGA Tour FedEx Cup and coveted $10 million prize, Billy Horschel paid his caddie $1 million.

It’s common practice for PGA Tour players to pay their caddies 10 percent of any prize money they won that week, but Fugitt told GolfWeek the bonus came as a shock because he wasn’t sure what the protocol was for a season-long cash prize.

Caddies everywhere hope Horschel’s move becomes standard practice with FedExCup prize money.

He played on the Hawaii Pacific University Men's Golf team and earned a Masters degree in Communications. He also played college golf at Rutgers University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

THE YOUNG MAN IS A CLASS ACT IN ALL RESPECTS. GOLF NEEDS GENTLEMEN AND HEROES. ENOUGH OF THE PHILANDERERS, LIARS, CHEATS AND DRUG USERS.

As expected from a Florida Gator. Hopefully this paves the way for what other FedEx Cup Winners do in the future. Good for you Billy Ho Golf!

classy move – sad it came as a shock. All players should be doing it as it is quite obvious how much they rely on their caddies these days. If their wives get 50% then giving their caddies anything less than 10% is a joke and slap in the face.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
