Introducing Worldwide Virtual Golf

There’s a new player in the golf tournament space and a new way for you and your golf buddies to engage in friendly competition — no matter where you are in the world.

Worldwide Virtual Golf, a website/service launched earlier this year, allows users to compete against friends in smaller tournaments of their own creation as well as larger competitions as WGC adjusts for the specific course a golfer is teeing it up on.

“WVG Handicap Algorithm calculates scores based on USGA course Slope Ratings, and factors out course difficulty so that scores represent golfers’ talent and proficiency at the sport.” – CEO David Beaver

The site is also optimized for mobile for on-course score entry.

WVG will eventually transition to a pay-for-membership model, but for now, everyone that joins from now until Dec. 31 will get a free year of membership.

CEO David Beaver was kind enough to answer a few questions about the company.

How did things get started for Worldwide Virtual Golf?

My dad came up with the concept, and he did all the coding and the basic website layout. I came on about six months ago and kind of streamlined things, and we’re relaunching here.

What was the initial opportunity your dad saw?

We wanted to add more competition to the traditional golf game. My dad was always interested in tournaments and players having more tournament fun more often.

He developed this algorithm, the Worldwide Virtual Golf algorithm, which takes the course and par information and factors out that aspect.

There’s not a lot tournaments out there. With our site, you can play them every weekend.

How do you briefly explain the concept to the layperson?

It’s really about adding a greater sense of competition to regular golf. It allows golfers from around the world to compete on different courses and even on different days.

So, every time you head out to the course you could be competing against friends in different states and golfers in other countries.

How does the process work?

If you’re doing a private tournament, you have to first create a group. Then you invite the guys you want to play with and go over to the tournament page and create the tournament with however many rounds of golf you’re going to require. You go out and play your rounds, then you come back and upload your score onto the site.

So it’s been a year since the initial concept?

Yeah. It’s been a year since the initial concept. We’ve been running for a couple of months and just finished a quick redesign.

What’s next?

We’ll be implementing prize tournaments: Official sponsored tournaments where you’ll be able to win some cash or some clubs possibly.

We’re going to be rolling out tracking on the website for each individual member, so you’ll be able to see all the scores and course information. That’s going to be implemented in six months to a year.

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
