Still Classic: Catching Up with the Jones Golf Bag Company
At the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show, GolfWRX took note of some impressive gear seemingly appropriate for its gear heads, which will be featured on its website. For this third and final feature, we are highlighting the Jones Sports Company based in Portland, Oregon. In particular, Jones has made the trek to the “Show” each and every year since re-launching in 2011 to do something rare, which is introduce its new product line for the coming season.
If you are between the ages of 35-55, you might have one in your garage, or been given one when you made your varsity golf team in high school, and kept it until now since parting with it would be simply too painful. Known by sight alone, your Jones golf bag is a piece of history and a reminder of a different time in the game of golf. Jones golf bags were an original creation of George Jones back in 1971 when he began hand sewing bags and selling them out of his cab in Portland, Oregon. Today, Jones is in the midst of a well-established rebirth due to efforts of an ownership group now happily responsible for the fate of this iconic symbol in golf.

@mrmikeac: “I’ve been Anti-Titleist for years and years and years (outside of Vokey, of course). With that being said, HOLY BEGEEZUS the GT3 driver is an absolute NUCLEAR MONSTER! This thing blew my G430 10K Max out of the water in every single category. Forgiveness is the biggest thing that stands out of me, the 3 model has always been one of the less forgiving models in the past but this GT3 can take bad shot after bad shot and still end up in the fairway, I think a ton of that has to do with the adjustability, it’s actually effective. Feel and sound is perfect, that solid crack is so addicting to hear and when you hit it out the screws this thing can absolutely bomb it. Titleist, I’m sorry for doubting you. You have converted me.”
