Adam Scott picks Marc Leishman as partner for World Cup of Golf

In the wake of Jason Day’s decision to pull out of the event, World Cup of Golf officials announced Adam Scott has chosen Marc Leishman as his partner for the World Cup of Golf at Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne on November 23-27.

This will be Leishman’s first appearance in the event. The Australian won the 2012 Travelers Championship and has tallied an additional five international wins, most recently hoisting the trophy at the 2015 Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Scott and Leishman were teammates on the International team at the 2013 and 2015 Presidents Cups. The two were paired together in 2015 during the Saturday foursomes where they defeated Bubba Watson and J.B. Holmes 1-up.

“I’m extremely excited about playing in the World Cup of Golf with Adam. I can’t wait to represent my country back home in Australia,” Leishman said. “Also, my best to Jason for a quick recovery.”

Leishman gives the famed course high marks.

“It’s [Kingston Heath] probably in the top-three, to be honest. Along with Augusta National Golf Club and St. Andrews. Kingston Heath is not long; it’s a very fun golf course and you can shoot really low there. You’ll have a lot of wedges in your hand – you have to be really precise.”

The 2016 World Cup of Golf will return to a 72-hole, stroke play, two-man team event format. The first and third days of competition will be the foursomes (alternate shot) format and the second and final days are four-ball (best ball) play.

“Russia: Jaco Van Zyl, George Coetzee”?

Unless Russia has negotiated a deal with South Africa, I suspect this is a mistake.

Thanks for catching that mistake, Mark. The story has been corrected.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
