I tried this method decades ago and went back to “hitting” almost immediately. It just works better for me.

I don’t understand how you can compress 4 layers or 5 layers of modern-day golf balls properly by just collecting the ball and sweeping through, as opposed to hammering through and letting the compressive layers do their work. More than likely you won’t be able to and therefore those balls won’t perform as designed.

Looks like Shawn is compressing the ball quite nicely I’d say?

More disappointing modern day instruction – read Swing The Clubhead by Ernest Jones ( published in 1952 ) for a much more helpful description of how to put the ball in the way of your swing . He lost his right leg below the knee in World War 1 , shot a 72 not long afterwards at Royal Norwich and in 1923 took up the position of Head Golf Professional at the Women’s National Golf and Tennis Club in Long Island, New York .

Apparently he was scratch as a righty and lefty at one time (this was something that has been said in a couple of his videos). As with any instructor, there are good tips and bad. I’m with you as far as how long the swing takes. It’s very different from mine, which makes it hard to implement the tips.

What’s your deal SteveK? Why do you troll all of these tips? Are you mad that golfwrx won’t ask you to write an article?

Stop posting on the forum and just sit in the wrx office and drink coffee….

For myself, I finally started “not” hitting the ball when it dawned on me that it is caused by setting up to the ball. I now set up to the club and then place it behind the ball. It looks the almost the same for both, but it turned out to be a world of difference for me.

Does anyone know if Clements can play, or how well. I find his swing so awkward and ungainly that it’s hard to watch.

YouTube “golf tips” are just as bad as Golf Magazine golf tips.
Golf tips are only a bandage while the disease festers underneath.
Most of the swing faults are between the feet and the shoulders.
The rest of the faults are in the arms, hands and golf club.
Attempting to fix the swing from ball impact inwards is totally wrong.

Nothing new to me as the ball is always getting in the way of my swing.

Another ruse to keep the bad players to stay bad players so that good players can beat them and make money. Just ask Henry Cotton.

Nice imagery… but … 95% of all golfers do not have a consistent golfswing and can’t square the clubface through the ball… they just don’t know how to do it.
