Mizuno’s Senior Club Engineer, Chris Voshall told us Casey’s somewhat surprising setup in his long irons is simply the product of Casey hitting the windows he wants to with the particular clubs in question.
“It’s all based on the height of the ball flight,” Voshall said. The MP-25 3-iron was more penetrating and better for him off the tee, so he kept it in there.”

WITB Time Machine: Rory McIlroy’s winning WITB, 2021 Truist Championship
Rory McIlroy’s victory at the 2021 Wells Fargo Championship 2021 (now the Truist Championship) marked a significant return to form, as he captured his 19th PGA Tour title. After starting the tournament slowly and sitting well off the pace early, McIlroy surged back into contention with strong weekend play, ultimately closing with a final-round 68 to finish at 10-under par.

Don’t see the hot metal pro 4i in the pic. Mabye he pulled it. Made no sense to me to have that 4i and mp 25 3i. The hot metal is a thin face cast club that easily would go by the mp25 forged 3i. I’ve hit both and it’s super obvious mabye go with the hot metal in 3&4. Weird settup, either way, great win, second of the month for mizuno. Their irons are used by many that had to dump Nike after they left and the irons wore out.

Listen to TXG’s video on Casey’s WITB. They discuss this in detail. His hot metal 4 iron flies higher and is better for hitting into greens and he uses the MP25 3 iron for off the tee if he wants to flight it lower. He may have added loft to the 4i as well.

And how many non-contract Callaway players are there? How many of those have won? Yea, thought so.

Every PGA course should be set up as hard as this, every weekend. Make them play. Don’t let the courses be set up for bomb and gouge. Nobody wants to see scores that go to 28 under par

Very much so. This tourney was well run, and the best player won. DJ could have easily taken Casey out on most other driver/wedge tracks. Not so here. That is real golf. We will soon be at 8000+ yd. courses on tour to combat distance, rather than have setups like this. Really makes me wonder why.

The guys on SiriusXM PGA Radio were saying to grow the rough a bit and have a major at that course. Sounds Good. I am so sick of players saying “this course doesn’t fit my eye”…it’s called Fairways & Greens for a reason.
