Nunchuk shafts have many traits of hickory, with unique take on modern graphite.

ie hickory being solid with larger taper at the grip end, were counterbalanced.
Gerry Hogan the designer counter balanced Nunchuk shafts. He initiated a patent to counter balance all hand held implements, but it became too costly to pursue a world wide patent.

Nunchuk, graphite wrapped to stiffen the tip and to allow for bend in the center section dissipates kick, torque and bend prior to impact With a tip this stiff, there is no gear effect. After all for gear effect the shaft tip has to bend.

The best of the old and the new. No need to choose between the two.
