SPOTTED: In-hand photos of Ping’s new G430 drivers, fairway woods and hybrids
Ping’s new G430 LST and G430 MAX drivers recently landed on the USGA Conforming List, and they were first introduced to PGA Tour players at the 2022 Shriners Children’s Open. GolfWRX captured in-hand photos of the G430 LST driver, the G430 Max driver, a new G430 Max fairway wood, and a G430 hybrid at the Shriners.
Although Ping has not yet officially spoken on the new technologies or design, GolfWRX caught up with equipment free agent Jason Day at the Shriners to get his early feedback on the G430 products:
“Well, apparently it’s supposed to be a couple miles per hour faster, is what [Ping is] saying, and they’re also saying that it tends to go left-to-right,” Day said about the G430 LST model driver. “It may not work for someone who already fades it, but I’m one of the guys who [hits a draw]. But it seemed pretty good. I still have to test it out over the next couple days, but I’m driving it about the same, if not a little bit further, than my G410 that I had. But we’ll see, it’s so early. Right now, it’s pretty friggin’ nice…
“I just like the way it looks and sits on the ground already. I don’t like things looking like they have too much loft and like it’s looking up at you and hooded a bit. The loft on [the G430 LST], it looks like you’re gonna hit these low bullet fades all day. The way that it looks right now, it’s really good.
“In the past, they’ve had to add more hot melt into the 410 or 425 just because the sound wasn’t right. These have a lot less hot melt, and these have a lot of head [weight], so it feels easier to me to transition into the G430, because I typically like a lot of head weight in my driver…
“The good thing is, I don’t get paid from anyone, so I can be completely honest and tell you if the driver’s crap; and right now, the way that it’s coming off, it’s really nice compared to my G410. Typically, in the past, with the 410, I put a little bit too much spin on it. I think a lot of guys struggle with spin with Ping, and I play a softer ball now, so it’s obviously adding to the spin. But they said that this is a lot less spin than the previous drivers. That might fit me perfect.”
In the first week out on the PGA Tour, 28 players chose to use a Ping G430 driver, 23 of which were the G430 LST model.

Ping’s pitch: “The most forgiving G440 model, MAX has a hotter face to generate speed and distance, and a lighter overall system weight with a longer shaft (46″) for faster clubhead speed, higher launch and longer carries. 3. Ping G440 LST: 9.53%
Ping’s pitch: “LST is an especially good fit for faster swings, offering less spin and more control with a penetrating trajectory. A hotter face, lighter overall system weight and longer shaft (46″) deliver more speed and distance while maintaining tight dispersion.”
@phizzy30: “Not a fan of Ping drivers in general, but 440 LST takes the cake. It’s super forgiving across the face for a low spin head, looks and sounds good and the ability to make it play neutral or slightly fade biased through the hosel settings is very appealing.”

2. Titleist GT3: 16.55%

@mrmikeac: “I’ve been Anti-Titleist for years and years and years (outside of Vokey, of course). With that being said, HOLY BEGEEZUS the GT3 driver is an absolute NUCLEAR MONSTER! This thing blew my G430 10K Max out of the water in every single category. Forgiveness is the biggest thing that stands out of me, the 3 model has always been one of the less forgiving models in the past but this GT3 can take bad shot after bad shot and still end up in the fairway, I think a ton of that has to do with the adjustability, it’s actually effective. Feel and sound is perfect, that solid crack is so addicting to hear and when you hit it out the screws this thing can absolutely bomb it. Titleist, I’m sorry for doubting you. You have converted me.”

Spotted?? Like they are rare or something.
Guys in Australia are already being fitted for them. Retail I’ve seen them for $1,049 for the LST and $999 for the others. FW are $999 and all in AUD for a mid November general release
