Stanley gets redemption at the WM Phoenix Open

What a difference a week can make.

Kyle Stanley came from eight strokes back in the final round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open to win his first PGA Tour event.

Just last week, Stanley blew a seven-shot lead in the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open. In an ironic twist of fate, Stanley overtook Spencer Levin, who started the day with a six-shot lead, and was trying to win his first Tour event.

Stanley shot a bogey-free 65 on Sunday to finish at 15-under, one shot clear of runner-up Ben Crane. Levin, who finished two back of Stanley after a four-over 75 on Sunday, fell apart on the final nine. His most crushing blow came on TPC Scottsdale’s 15^th hole, a reachable par 5.

Levin started the hole tied for the lead with Stanley, but his wayward tee shot came to rest up against a cactus, which forced him to use his belly putter to chop the ball sideways into the rough. Levin then tried to muscle a 5 iron to the island green, but found the water short and right of the green, which resulted in a double-bogey seven.

Stanley, on the other hand, appeared to be battling old demons, when he flew a pitching wedge long and left of the green on No. 16, a par 3. Stanley managed to get up and down on the hole for par, and then made a miraculous escape on his second shot from underneath a cactus on the drivable par 4 17^th hole that came to rest on the green and setup a two-putt par.

Stanley was wild at times, hitting only six of 14 fairways and only one fairway on the back nine, but managed to hit 16 of 18 greens and pared the final three holes for the win.

While happy for the victory, Stanley said he felt for Levin and didn’t wish that type of final round collapse on anyone. The victory was the largest comeback in tournament history and third largest in Tour history. Levin’s six-shot lead matched the largest lead lost in Tour history, the most notable being Greg Norman six-shot slipup at the 1996 Masters.

With the win, Stanley earned $1,098,000 and 500 Fed Ex Cup points.

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
