The Scorecard: John Deere Classic

Published

AT&T National - Final Round
The scorecard is a weekly wrap up of the most important numbers from the previous week’s PGA Tour event.

The Front Nine

45 — Feet from which Jordan Spieth holed out from a greenside bunker on the 72nd hole to get into a playoff at the John Deere Classic.

20 — Number of consecutive rounds in the 60s for Zach Johnson, defending champ and runner-up at the 2013 John Deere Classic

4Number of consecutive rounds in the 60s for Patrick Rodgers, rising junior at Stanford and candidate for the 2013 U.S. Walker Cup.

88 — Yards from which Brendon de Jonge holed out for eagle on hole No. 10, his first hole of the week.

132 — Yards from which Troy Matteson holed out from on hole No. 4 for ace on Friday.

25 — Birdies made by Jordan Spieth during four rounds over the TPC Deere Run golf course.

19 — Jordan Spieth’s age. With the win, he became first teenager to win on Tour since 1931.

5 — Feet of birdie putt for victory missed on playoff hole No. 4 by David Hearn, for whom a win would have meant a spot in the 2013 British Open.

1 — Number of clubs in Jordan Spieth’s bag that don’t come from a Titleist factory (it’s a 15-degree TaylorMade RBZ Stage 2 fairway wood).

Zach Johnson

The Back Nine

27 — Number of birdies made by Daniel Summerhays, a Tour non-winner who missed the playoff by one stroke.

6 — Statistical fields in which Zach Johnson ranked in the top-10 at John Deere, marking him as a player to be watched at the British Open.

87.5 — Percentage of fairways hit on driving holes (best of the week) by Jerry Kelly, whose T4 was his first top 10 since the RBC Heritage in April.

1.556 — Average putts on greens hit in regulation (best of the week) by Patrick Reed, who needed birdie on final hole to join playoff, but made bogey for his third top-10 finish of the year.

324 — Average driving distance in yards of Matt Jones for the week at John Deere, ranking him fourth in that category.

83.93 — Percentage of fairways hit (T3) by Jones at the John Deere, making him the official “Designated Driver” of the tournament (Jones tied for seventh at 17-under).

62.5 — Percentage of top-10 finishes in eight official events for Steve Stricker in 2013, which would bode well for the British Open, if he were playing.

6 — Top-10 finishes for Jordan Spieth in 2013, in 17 tournaments.

1 — Number of Tour wins that was needed for Spieth to qualify for FedEx Cup playoffs, where he will certainly factor into the championship equation. He’s currently ranked 11th in FedExCup points.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
