RBC Canadian Open Photos

Published

on

GolfWRX is live from the RBC Canadian Open in Oakville, Ontario.

The Canadian Open was established by the Royal Canadian Golf Association in 1904, making it the third oldest championship in golf — only The Open Championship (established 1860) and the U.S. Open (established 1895) have longer histories.

Last year, Scott Piercy earned his second PGA Tour victory at the Canadian Open, which was held at Hamilton Golf and Country Club — about a 30 minute drive from this year’s site, Glen Abbey Golf Club. He shot a 3-under 67 to finish 17-under, 1 shot clear of Robert Garrigus and William McGirt.

This year will mark the 26th year that the tournament has been held at Glen Abbey, a Jack Nicklaus-designed course that opened in 1977.

In 2007, Jim Furyk became the first golfer since 1951 to win the Canadian Open in back-to-back years. Piercy looks to do the same this year, but faces a field that includes Furyk, Brandt Snedeker, Ernie Els, Billy Horshel, Dustin Johnson, David Lingmerth, Hunter Mahan, Graeme McDowell, Bubba Watson and Gary Woodland.

Canadians currently in the field include: Stephen Ames, Graham DeLaet, Adam Hadwin, David Hearn, Mike Weir, Kevin Carrigan (a), Albin Choi, Corey Conners, Brad Fritsch, Brian Hadley, Mackenzie Hughes, Bryn Parry, Roger Sloan, Adam Svensson, Riley Wheeldon and Eugene Wong.

Photos from the 2022 PGA Show

Published

on

GolfWRX was on site for the golf business’s annual winter rite: the PGA Merchandise Show.

While the weather was less than cooperative for demo day, there were no such difficulties inside the Orange County Convention Center. This isn’t to say there weren’t significant figurative headwinds influencing this year’s Show, but those are widely discussed elsewhere. Our duty here was merely to document, and that is what we did to the tune of more than 1,500 photos, below.

Enjoy!

Interesting photos from the Mallorca Open

Published

on

Thanks to our friends at SMS_on_Tour for sending along some shots from last week’s Mallorca Open at Golf Santa Ponsa.

Denmark’s Jeff Winther topped a trio of players at 14 under (and some trouble in a bathroom) to win.

Let’s take a look at some interesting photos!

First up, Ashley Chesters with a Nike Vapor Fly 5-wood in the bag.

Twitter sensation Eddie Pepperell is one of the few pros we’ve spotted with a TaylorMade 300 Mini Driver in play.

Scott Hend’s wedges feature some fantastic stamping.

An original White Hot 2-Ball in the wild. The real OG!

Mitsubishi Kai’li (which officially launched today) spotted here.

Scott Hend with the pink paintfill on his Toulon Palm Beach.

Jazz Janewattanond’s wedge stamping never disappoints (even if often confounds)
