Tweets of the week: Golfers’ kids, mean mugging, mince pies and a questionable tribute

Published

on

Welcome to another edition of “Tweets of the week,” wherein we take a brief survey of the minutia that populated the social media sphere during the past week.

A brief recap of the major golf stories from the past week: Paula Creamer made a really long putt to win in a playoff at the HSBC Women’s Champions, Russell Henley won the Honda Classic in a playoff (and Rory McIlroy didn’t), and Tiger Woods withdrew from the aforementioned tournament with back trouble.

Now, on to the tweets.

Jason Day’s son Dash was the recipient of a pretty cool piece of hardware from the TaylorMade van: a custom TMag JetSpeed driver. The golfer tweeted this photo of the youngster trying out his new weaponry. Who knew TaylorMade’s new release doubled as a putter?

From one golfer’s son to another’s dog-son: Prince Louie Dufner is the star of this photo Papa Jason Dufner tweeted. The French Bulldog is a mean mugger, indeed.

Tweeting for once about something that doesn’t directly enrich him, Bubba Watson snapped this shot of the men’s hair products in the locker room at Doral and tacked on an apt caption.

Bearded and Canadian, it was only a matter of time until Graham DeLaet ended up in a golf-themed photo shoot.

Sir Nick is still with us, so it seems the expired mince pies didn’t kill him, a fact that I think the majority of golf fans are happy about.

After a Sunday 74 and lackluster play in a playoff cost Rory McIlroy the Honda Classic, he tweeted this photo of the consolation he received from man’s best friend.

Continuing the dog-related tweets, Ben Crane dealt with a troll in the best way possible.

David Lynn: loves Ferraris. Ian Poulter: loves Ferraris. David Lynn’s daughter: does not love Ferraris.

Keegan Bradley continues to use Twitter to ridicule his buddies. Taking a break from his perpetual harassment of Jason Dufner, Bradley fired off this message to ESPN anchor Scott Van Pelt.

Ian Poulter offered a succinct reply by analogy to a fan asking him if he watched the golf tournaments he didn’t participate in.

Finally, the great Harold Ramis died this week. I don’t know if it’s terrible or commendable that TaylorMade paid homage to the writer-director of Caddyshack in this fashion. I can see both sides of the argument. Nevertheless, here’s what they did (with the scene from Caddyshack they’re alluding to for reference).

Thank you Mr. Alberstadt. As always, you remain one of the few things worth reading on this site. The rest is just pictures.

Disagree, the tweets are usually stupid humblebrags. I do however appreciate the pic of duffer’s wife’s crack
