Pettersson leads a tight race at Harbour Town

Carl Pettersson made five straight birdies on the front site to take a one-stroke lead into the final round of the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, SC.

Pettersson shot a front-side 5-under 31 before stumbling on the back nine until reaching the 18th hole. One-over on the back nine heading to the 18th hole, Pettersson made birdie to move into the final round as the leader.

Colt Knost will be paired with Pettersson for the final round after shooting a third round 69, which included an eagle on No. 2.

The trend this year has been for the third round leader to lose the lead and there are a number of players ready to capitalize if Pettersson stumbles.

Zach Johnson shot 66 to move into third place at 8-under. Crowd favorite and two-time winner Boo Weekly is in fourth place at 7-under. Weekly missed a number of makeable putts that would have improved his third-round 70.

“We’ve still got 18 holes,” Johnson said. “The last four or five holes, if I’m near the lead, we can get after it a little bit.”

Luke Donald may need to shoot an extra low score to keep the top spot in the Official World Golf Rankings. Donald has to finish in the top eight, and is currently at 2-over in 52nd place.

“Now that I’ve been No. 1 for a number of weeks now, it’s not something I think about too much,” he said earlier this week. “My focus this week is just trying to win the tournament.”

Seth is an avid golfer playing year round in Florida.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
