Sabbatini Perseveres to Win at Colonial

Rory Sabbatini birdied the first playoff hole against Jim Furyk and Bernard Langer to win his fourth PGA Tour victory at the Crowne Plaza Colonial in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Rory Sabbatini wins at Colonial Just two weeks after Rory Sabbatini captured major headlines for his outspoken opinion on Tiger Woods, Sabbatini defeated Jim Furyk and Bernard Langer in a one hole playoff to capture the Crowne Plaza Colonial and don the winner’s plaid jacket. Over the past few years, the outspoken Sabbatini has drawn much criticism and scrutiny from both media and fans for his behavior and comments. However, his performance on Sunday left no room for debate about his desire to win and talent. The rain in the area combined with the lift clean and place rule mitigated the hard and fast conditions expected at Colonial helping players avoid the thick rough by holdingthe narrow fairways and small greens. Intermittent showers throughout the week forced the completion of the third round early Sunday morning but that did not have any effect on Sabbatini who carded a 62, nearly breaking the course record. All three players Sabbatini, Furyk and Langer shot 67 in the final round to find their way into the tournament’s first ever three man playoff.

For much of the day, Sabbatini held the lead and thanks to a back nine played at -2 he found himself with the lead. Bernard Langer’s four foot birdie putt after a precise nine-iron approach at 17 combined with a remarkable up and down par save at 18 after a wayward tee shot helped preserve the 49 year old’s opportunity to become the sixth oldest player to ever win a tournament on the PGA Tour. Playing two groups ahead, Jim Furyk shot -3 on the back nine with birdies on 10, 12, and 16 to post the final score to beat of -14.

On the first playoff hole, the 433 yard 18th, all three players found themselves on the green with birdie opportunities. Furyk’s forty foot putt went just past the right edge of the hole and finished two feet away. Sabbatini then lined up his birdie putt and confidently walked it into the center of the hole as his fifteen footer found the bottom of the cup. Bernard Langer, last to putt, ran his twelve footer just past the edge of he hole and with that miss, Rory Sabbatini earned his fourth PGA Tour victory. "It feels so good," Sabbatini said. "I had a lot of friends here. Thank goodness I pulled through so we can celebrate."

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
