Tiger back to hitting full shots
Tiger Woods is on the mend and has resumed hitting full shots, according a story from USA Today.
“The doctors said he could hit golf balls again, and he’s listening to his doctors and to his body,” Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, told USA Today Sports on Monday. “He will keep listening to his doctors and body.”
According to reports, Woods has been chipping and putting for at least the last several weeks. He last hit a golf shot in competition at the PGA Championship in August, where he played through pain on the way to a missed cut. It was the end of a disappointing 2014 for Woods, which saw him undergo back surgery on March 31. That caused him to missm the first two major championships of the year, The Masters and the U.S. Open.
Woods returned from back surgery in late June, but continued to struggle through poor play and pain before removing himself from consideration for the Ryder Cup and deciding to skip the rest of the 2014 PGA Tour season. According to Steinberg, the former No. 1 golfer hopes to play in the Hero World Golf Championship at Isleworth in Orlando on Dec. 4-7, which benefits his foundation.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.

I actually enjoy the tournaments that he doesn’t play in. It’s refreshing not having to see his on course antics and his childish temper tantrums.

It’s always good for golf when Tiger is playing and better when he’s playing well.

Don’t thing the PGA tour needs Tiger as much, but he certainly can do sonething good fir Golf in the future. I don’t remember ever enjoying watching him in any tournanent abd it did more annoy me to hear him being chasing even then he was 10 shots back. I enjoy the young blood coming through and Majors will be played between types like Rory, Ricky, Jordan Spieth and sone of the seniors withiut a Major so far. Tiger has another 5-7 years like Ernie who is now 45 and still great contendet. But doubt Tiger will more then two more Majors.

I would think after all the time he’s spent in the game, the myriad of great coaches he’s worked with and been around, and just his natural talent, that Tiger could EASILY figure out his swing on his own. And it might be easier to translate and commit to, because it’s not an outsider’s opinion being made on his swing, it’s all up to him on what he feels is right and what will score the best. Really hope he comes back strong.

With all the other changes in his game recently, think he switches over to the Vapor Pro line?

I know that Tiger is the biggest name, but his game isnt. No disrespect to Rory. Rory is the best. But Tiger is becoming less relevant. Always hurt in the aging body. Really seems like the stuff he might have done when he was younger is coming back to haunt him. Look at any athlete when they come off the junk the body and game breaks down. When Tiger was at his best, winning majors, Juice was common in all sports. Did he or didn’t he? I don’t know, but what is happening to him now is telling

I have no clue whether he juiced or not. However, from the limited footage I have watched on you-tube (no TV and never watched Tiger play other than in the last few years) he is very aggressive on difficult shots which put a lot of strain on the body from the motion “aggressive swing” and the terrain “rough and high grass”.
Myself, when I play aggressive from the rough I will feel the pain for a few days. Now imagine someone doing that for entire tournaments for 15+ tournaments a year, plus all the additional practice games, plus the range/practice time, plus additional gym workouts and likely lack of sleep to recover – since they were a professional, and the additional time of playing /practicing since a child.
I’m amazed his body lasted this long. Incredible when you think about it.

I doubt Tiger was juicing when he was winning big. When he was tearing up the tour he was slim. Now he’s bulked up. That might have as much to do with his injuries as anything else. More muscle leads to reduced flexibility, which leads to more stresses and strains on the body. Add the fact he’s been playing high impact, powerful golf for longer than a lot of guys, it’s catching up with him.

How short golfers memories are…… Tiger tore up the tour in 2013 aka a year ago. He had 5 wins and a player of the year. That one year would be a hall of fame year for many players but was only a so so year for tiger and the media because his career is measured only in majors.
And it wasnt like he just got hot for 3 weeks like Rory, his wins spanned the entire year beginning middle and end.

My comments weren’t if Tiger can still win, sure he can. Can he win majors, I think so. My comments were about can his body hold up. He can’t win if he can’t play. Phil won a British, Webb Simpson won the US open, Dufner won the PGA. Tiger could limp around Augusta and still have a shot. But will his broken down body let him, to me it is a coin flip

Tiger is definitely on juice and hgh and so is Rory, Adam Scott and Camillo. It’s very obvious. Rory brags about gaining 7 pounds of muscle in 8 weeks before his PGA championship win. Adam in a short period of time goes from a stick to looking like he gained 15 pounds and same goes for Camillo. Not only that, all these guys are ripped and have very low bodyfat. They also gain 20 yards of distance off the tee as well. Pro athletes at the highest levels are looking for that slight edge to help them get to the top or stay there and golfers are no exception.

You have to look at that with eyes open. There is alot of money in golf and where there is money there is cheating or trying to get a edge. The PGA tour will not test the top players for juice, atleast not yet. The tour is to shaky right now, finding that top players cheat will kill the tour

Let me make this very clear ….I am not a tiger fan at all but lets not fool ourselves, GOLF as whole needs him back on the course competing. Will he ever be 2002 tiger? not likely will he even be able to rekindle the 2013 season, again I have Doubts. If he comes back and plays similar to how Mickelson does today that will help golf, 1 to 3 wins a year and maybe a major during a drought where it would be least expected. Then you will have years where he may not win at all but atleast compete (ie phil in the 2014 PGA the near 62 at the WGC which came out of nowhere)

I hope he never comes back
Pat
Oct 25, 2014 at 8:47 pm
I agree with you Shine. I hope he never comes back as well and just retires. The golf industry has been in an economic slump for a long time and won’t recover just because Tiger comes back and plays. Plus, I’m sick and tired of watching him act like little child on the course with his temper tantrums.

And the reason WRX is rampant with Tiger Woods thread is because the guy takes a swing and its front page article time. Just sayin.

Good on Tiger for finally taking the Dr’s advice in full. It will be good to see if he can make it on his own or if he does in fact need a swing coach, but we won’t know until December.

But the bigger question here is HOW is he swinging? Grip and rip?

Is that a recent photo? I was noticing the fact that he was swinging a VR Pro rather than a Vapor.

I don’t think that that is recent
He probably practices in private
