Published

This year’s big hitters will be swinging out of their shoes to become the 2014 RE/MAX World Long Drive Champion on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 10 p.m. EST on Golf Channel.

The eight finalists from around the world — Jamie Sadlowski (CAN), Daniel Beckman (USA), Matt Hanger (USA), Jeff Crittenden (USA), Adam Smith (USA), Joe Miller (ENG), Jeff Flagg (USA), Connor Powers (USA) —  will tee it up at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, where only the longest of the long will take home the winner-take-all $250,000 purse.

Golf Channel has been following the championship since the qualifying rounds and has dubbed the weeks of competitive rounds as “Long Drive Month.”

“Long driving is a hidden gem within the world of golf that brings an exciting programming complement to Golf Channel’s air and tells the stories of the golfers who live every waking hour trying to figure out how to hit the ball longer,” said Tom Knapp, senior vice president of programming for Golf Channel. “Long drive continues to grow around the world, and we’re excited to capture and showcase this sport that not only is a thrill-a-minute, but also awe-inspiring for our Golf Channel viewers.”

Joe Miller, the 2010 RE/MAX Long Drive Champion, hopes to capture his 13th Long Driving title this year, having already dominated the Long Driver’s European Tour with 12 straight titles this summer. The 2008 and 2009 Champion Jamie Sadlowski, who is also as a 2-time destroyer of Golf Channel’s simulator, is making his 8th-straight Final 8 appearance, which is the longest active streak of any other long driver.

Last year’s winner Tim Burke set a long drive world record at 427 yards. Burke, however, did not make it past this year’s first day of qualifying.

The live event will include play-by-play and analysis from Golf Channel’s Ryan Burr and Michael Breed, as well as interviews by Lauren Thompson.

Evan is an attorney licensed to practice law in Michigan. He's also a dedicated golfer with an obsession for the latest golf equipment, and frequently gets caught in public examining his swing in any reflective surface.

He lost. Couldn’t hit the grid with that high ball flight. Didn’t know what to do with the crosswind. KAbooooom! hahaha

I’m rooting for Matt Hangar. Made it to the final 8 last year and didn’t hit the grid once. He’s looking strong this year.

These guys are freaks (in a good way!)and so fun to watch on tv I’m glad it is getting some air time on golf channel. My 15 year old son was just awestruck watching some of the guys having a closest to pin contest on #18 at St. Andrews on the simulator on Morning Drive. Unreal.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
