Sean O’Hair Wins PODS Championship

It was an up and down week in Florida for the PODS Championship, but that didn’t bother Sean O’Hair who overcame a three shot deficit to come from behind and win the PODS Championship.

At just 24 years old, this was O’Hair’s second victory on the PGA Tour. For the first three rounds, terrible weather delayed play. However, the final round featured sunny skies and calmer winds. First round leader Stewart Cink jumped out of the gates to an early lead with birdies on the first two holes. But Cink quickly came back to the field after two bogies. On the back nine O’Hair caught fire while Cink continued to struggle. O’Hair’s thirty foot birdie putt on the fifteenth green gave him the lead for the first time and it would be all he needed for the win. O’Hair was the only player in the field to shoot par or better all four rounds.

O’Hair has had a rugged road from the start. After battling a tumultuous relationship with his estranged father, O’Hair finally found his way to the PGA Tour and won his rookie season in 2005. However, he struggled with both his swing and his confidence since then, contending in tournaments but failing to close the deal. "When I won (the first time), it just kind of happened . . . I thought I was good enough to do this every year. But it’s been such a struggle to get to this point again. This is awesome, and I’m going to enjoy it," said O’Hair.

Once again O’Hair pointed to his former caddie and father-in-law Steve Lucas who reiterated the faith he had in O’Hair and his talent. "We talked about a lot of stuff. Just how he believed in me, how he felt like I was on the right track and that if I just start believing in myself, everything would happen. He was right. I didn’t believe him. But I guess he was right," said O’Hair.

The victory now moves O’Hair up to 35 in the world golf rankings qualifying him for the CA Championship at Doral, and The Masters.

Phil Mickelson made history at the 2021 PGA Championship on Kiawah Island’s Ocean Course. At 50, he became the oldest player to win a major, breaking Julius Boros’s record. Starting the final round with a slim lead, Lefty faced tough competition from Brooks Koepka and Louis Oosthuizen. He pulled ahead with key birdies and a standout 366-yard drive on the 16th hole. Finishing 6 under par and two shots ahead, Mickelson claimed his sixth major and second PGA Championship. Many saw his win as an inspiring comeback, showing that experience and determination can still lead to victory in professional golf — and, sometimes, age is just a number.

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
