David Feherty moves to NBC Sports, Golf Channel

Published

on

Color commentator, analyst and golf humorist David Feherty inked a deal with NBC Sports on Tuesday after deciding not to renew his contract with CBS Sports. Feherty had worked at CBS Sports for 19 years, and as recently as three weeks ago.

He will work as an on-course and tower analyst, according to the Golf Channel, for the NBC Sports Group, which includes the Golf Channel. That means he will be covering events like The Players Championship, the FedExCup Playoffs, the 2016 Ryder Cup and Olympics, and more within the coming years.

Feherty will also keep his self-titled talk show, “Feherty,” which currently airs on Golf Channel.

[quote_box_center]”I’m really looking forward to this next step in my career, but I’ll miss a lot of people who have had my back for nearly 20 years,” Feherty said. “And to be honest, I’m on the verge of soiling myself. However, I am looking forward to the new challenges and opportunities at NBC and Golf Channel. I haven’t yet heard the over-under on me getting fired, but hey, I beat the odds last time.”[/quote_box_center]

He played on the Hawaii Pacific University Men's Golf team and earned a Masters degree in Communications. He also played college golf at Rutgers University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

Maybe this means cbs will show more live golf rather than interviews nobody cares about.

Now CBS needs to get rid of Gary McCord. He’s not funny anymore.

I agree, He sure thinks he is. I like David, but he and McCord together was too much. There were always a war of “wit” between the two; whose thesaurus was bigger

They’re welcome to him. Not funny or clever.

Good luck gettin a word in David. Koch does all the talkin and cuts everybody off. He’s the classic sentence finisher.

Gary Koch will have to teach him how to say “this was just a moment ago” just like he taugh Jacobson and Hicks.

I wasn’t a Feherty fan for the longest time, but his Golf Channel interview show won me over. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a better interviewer.

I’d love to see him as the host of a presidential debate.

Great pickup. Glad he’ll still be on air a lot.

I wonder since CBS’ golf coverage is done for the year if NBC will have Feherty be part of the remaining Fed-X season? Might work well with Jacobsen.

You’d have to ask that clown Fehertwit since he was a drunk he would know how that joke usually goes

You’re so brave, my friend. Don’t know what your talent is, but I’m guessing it doesn’t approach DF’s.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
