Video: Tiger spotted testing TaylorMade fairway wood, MRC Tensei White shaft

Published

on

Tiger Woods was spotted testing a TaylorMade M-Series fairway wood with a Mitsubishi Rayon Tensei CK White Pro shaft in a video that sufaced on Twitter.

According to the @TWfans Twitter account, the video was obtained from PGA Tour player Will Wilcox through Snapchat (@yuell365), and was taken Nov. 16 at the Medalist Golf Club in Jupiter, Fla., Woods’ home club. Although not discernible in the video, Woods was said to be hitting a TaylorMade M1 fairway wood.

And yesterday on Instagram, @twspot posted a photo of Tiger’s bag, allegedly at Medalist, which shows a TaylorMade M-Series driver headcover, along with the golfer’s usual tiger (animal) headcover.

Both TaylorMade’s M1 fairway woods and M1/M2 drivers use adjustable hosels, allowing golfers to change the loft and lie of the clubs for custom-fitting purposes. Woods has never used adjustable drivers or fairway woods in competition, as he’s said not to like their bulkier appearance at address. For that reason, Nike has produced custom bonded-hosel drivers for him in recent years.

That begs the question: has TaylorMade created a custom driver for Woods? Also, is he really testing a TaylorMade M1 fairway wood in the video, or is it a TaylorMade M2 fairway wood, which uses a bonded hosel.

Woods is set to tee it up at the Hero World Challenge, which takes place from Dec. 1-4 at Albany in the Bahamas.

At the WGC-HSBC Champions in October, fellow Nike staffer Rory McIlroy made headlines when he put a TaylorMade M2 driver in his bag for the tournament, as well as a pair of M2 fairway woods. McIlroy has since switched to an M1 fairway wood at this week’s European Tour DP World Tour Championship.

Another high-profile Nike Golf staffer, Brooks Koepka, also made the switch to an M2 driver after Nike’s announcement this August that it would stop producing golf equipment.

He will definitely switch to a brand that will pay him… TM and Titleist are the only two with money… it’ll be one of them.

Who cares about his clubs . I won’t to here about his ped abuse with the famous Canadian dr, you now the story that the commissioner swept under the rug.
Woods is always playing with his wood he never learns.

Tiger, even at his worst now, can still play better than most internet tough guys. Likewise, he can play any clubs he wants with similar results. It’s no secret though, that Nike tries to keep the top players with. “Swoosh” on their bag, so I’m sure they would cut him loose rather cheaply now, as his future isn’t looking as good. He’s not completely irrelevant so as to being more relevant to entry level/house brand clubs, but top manufacturers are still taking a gamble that he could make a big comeback for a bit.
Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of his, but I can respect what he has done, and acknowledge the fact that he did spark a new interest in the game through the 1990s and early 2000s.

Maybe Tiger, maybe not – the person taking the video choose not to show the individual via the close up – this is right up there with UFO videos.

Love this. Always giggle when someone says they’re testi clubs. No, you bought them to try out. No one is having you test them.

Nah. It’s useless because it doesn’t adjust to 13 degrees, at 15 degrees it’s way too shut

Honestly he can play with any set of clubs he just needs to find the right company that will make him perform better and more adaptive to his swing and play style. Tiger is capable of winning more tournaments and possibly more majors to come so don’t sleep on him. He is going to have all the attention when he returns to competitive tournaments also a new brand of sticks in his bag

Golfwrx should start a WITT feature. “Whats In The Trunk”. so we can have an accurate description of the clubs Tiger withdraws with.

The clubs will look good as his caddie loads them into the back of his SUV after he withdraws from whatever tournament he decides to kinda-sorta play in.

Quite the bandwagon jump to Taylormade. With everything all the experts in the forums claim, I’m surprised there are no videos of all the former Nike guys in Japan testing Miura gear.

According to secret tour pro, he also had the M1 driver in the bag, blades without markings, vokey wedges and of course his 13 major scotty

I would be surprised if they where the M1 instead of M2 since Tiger has traditionally stayed with non adjustable clubs.

GolfWRX Members Choice presented by 2nd Swing: Best driver of 2025

Published

We’re proud to once again partner with 2nd Swing Golf to bring you GolfWRX Members Choice 2025! 2nd Swing has more than 150,000 new and pre-swung golf clubs available in six store locations and online. Check them out here

What is the best driver in 2025? At GolfWRX, we take great pride in our online community and the cumulative knowledge and experience of our members. When it comes to the best driver of 2025, we want to know what our forum faithful think.

Since our founding in 2005, the bedrock of GolfWRX.com has been the community of passionate and knowledgeable golfers in our forums, and we put endless trust in the opinions of our GolfWRX members — the most knowledgeable community of golfers on the internet. No other group of golfers in the world tests golf clubs as frequently or as extensively, nor is armed with such in-depth information about the latest technology.

Below are the results of GolfWRX member voting for the 2025 best driver, along with the vote percentage for each club.

Best driver of 2025: The top 5

5. Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond: 6.02%

Callaway’s pitch: “For golfers looking for a fast, forgiving, yet workable driver, the Elyte Triple Diamond features a tour-inspired shape and is the preferred model by most Callaway tour players.”

You can read what other golfers are saying about the driver in the GolfWRX forums, and see our launch piece here. Shop the Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond here.

4. Ping G440 Max: 6.86%

Ping’s pitch: “The most forgiving G440 model, MAX has a hotter face to generate speed and distance, and a lighter overall system weight with a longer shaft (46″) for faster clubhead speed, higher launch and longer carries. The Free Hosel and Carbonfly Wrap crown save weight to create our lowest CG ever and increase forgiveness while contributing to a more muted, pleasing sound.”

You can read what other golfers are saying about the driver in the GolfWRX forums, and see our launch piece here. Shop the Ping G440 Max here.

3. Ping G440 LST: 9.53%

Ping’s pitch: “LST is an especially good fit for faster swings, offering less spin and more control with a penetrating trajectory. A hotter face, lighter overall system weight and longer shaft (46″) deliver more speed and distance while maintaining tight dispersion.”

@phizzy30: “Not a fan of Ping drivers in general, but 440 LST takes the cake. It’s super forgiving across the face for a low spin head, looks and sounds good and the ability to make it play neutral or slightly fade biased through the hosel settings is very appealing.”

You can read what other golfers are saying about the driver in the GolfWRX forums, and see our launch piece here. Shop the Ping G440 LST here.

2. Titleist GT3: 16.55%

Titleist’s pitch: “The GT3 Driver offers Titleist’s boldest combination of power and personalization through adjustable performance. Dial in the CG Track to your frequent contact location to make your biggest drives even bigger while taking total control over flight and shaping.”

@mrmikeac: “I’ve been Anti-Titleist for years and years and years (outside of Vokey, of course). With that being said, HOLY BEGEEZUS the GT3 driver is an absolute NUCLEAR MONSTER! This thing blew my G430 10K Max out of the water in every single category. Forgiveness is the biggest thing that stands out of me, the 3 model has always been one of the less forgiving models in the past but this GT3 can take bad shot after bad shot and still end up in the fairway, I think a ton of that has to do with the adjustability, it’s actually effective. Feel and sound is perfect, that solid crack is so addicting to hear and when you hit it out the screws this thing can absolutely bomb it. Titleist, I’m sorry for doubting you. You have converted me.”

You can read what other golfers are saying about the driver in the GolfWRX forums, and see our launch piece here. Shop the Titleist GT3 here.

1. Titleist GT2: 22.91%

Titleist’s pitch: “Delivering impressive distance from any impact point, the Titleist GT2 Driver extracts maximum performance through a forgiving design. Get the stability and added confidence of a high-MOI driver without sacrificing speed.”

@DTorres: “The Titleist GT2 has proven to be the best driver of the year. Packaged in a classic profile, GT2 perfectly balances performance and forgiveness while consistently being a high performer across all categories.”
