It’s official: Lydia Ko joins PXG

Published

on

Lydia Ko will officially join the PXG stable for 2017, her fourth year as a professional golfer. The news confirms a Jaime Diaz report from late November that was widely circulated in the world of golf.

No word yet on the specifics of Ko’s WITB as she jumps ship from Callaway.

In addition to Ko, PXG announced Brittany Lang, who has been using PXG irons, will officially be a staffer, as well as Christina Kim and Ryann O’Toole. They’ll join Cristie Kerr, Alison Lee, Sadena Parks, Gerina Piller and Beatriz Recari as LPGA players on staff.

Interestingly, Parsons isn’t signing any PGA Tour talent in 2017, and the company will focus instead on growing international business, according to E. Michael Johnson of Golf Digest.

“This year PXG is looking at golf and the tour from a global perspective,” said Bob Parsons. “In 2016 we saw remarkable growth in international sales, but we recognize that we have only scratched the surface. Tour validation is important, and the ladies tour is wildly popular in many countries. … These players, as well as our top-notch PGA Tour pros, will help us bring PXG’s unmatched technology to passionate golfers around the globe.”

Regarding the move to PXG, Ko said, “It was always my dream goal to become World No. 1. Now that I have reached that benchmark in my career, I am focused on consistently playing the best golf I can. When I first hit PXG’s clubs I was extremely impressed by how they felt. They felt solid and the performance was … wow!”

Ko will begin the season with new equipment, a new coach—after divesting of David Leadbetter’s services—and a new caddie.

Parsons Xtreme Golf was started in 2014 by GoDaddy founder, Bob Parsons. Ryan Moore was the first Tour staffer in 2015. Zach Johnson, Billy Horschel, Charles Howell III, and James Hahn signed on in 2016.

Ryann O’Toole will play the part of NASCAR Driver(LOL) Danica Patrick in upcoming Go Daddy commercials.

The saints protect us from Mr. Parsons assertion implying that “tour validation” will somehow translate into game improvement. No matter the gimmicky (multiple weight-ports, etc.) you still can’t buy lower scores solely by switching equipment.
And who is naive enough to think that PXG staffers aren’t in some significant (non-cash) way being compensated.? What responsible agent/player manager would agree to such nonsense.

The only reason why they want tour players is for marketing. If top flite was being played on tour it would get many more sales.

You do realize Pinnacle and Top Flites are like the top selling balls don’t you?

Go Lydia, sound like excellent clubs. I’m sure her team believe 100% she would be the best out there with any old bag of clubs, and they would be right. More importantly of course she needs to keep that relaxed, fun and sportsmanlike frame of mind which got her to no1, combined with not settling for second best in equipment, coaches, caddies, sponsors.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
