Golf film Tommy’s Honour is coming to the U.S. in April

Good news, golf cinephiles: Tommy’s Honour is slated for U.S. release April 14. The film centers around the relationship between Old Tom Morris (played by Peter Mullan) and Young Tom Morris (played by Jack Lowden). Lowden’s performance is reportedly of such a caliber that he’s in the running for several “honours” himself.

Filmed in Scotland, the movie is a deep exploration of the roots of the game and its pioneering players. The complicated relationship between the Morrises, as well as class struggle and competition lie at the thematic center of the Jason Connery-directed film.

Discussing Tommy’s Honour, Ben Crenshaw said, “I hope everybody embraces this film because it is a poignant story that is so beautifully depicted.”

The film will be theatrically released in approximately 32 cities on Friday, April 14, including in large markets such as Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, as well as in golf-rich areas like Palm Springs, Monterey and Phoenix.

“It’s a film that takes you into the soul of the game. Remarkably well done and enjoyable on every level,” CBS broadcaster Bill Macatee says.

Tommy’s Honour also stars Ophelia Lovibond and Sam Neill. Pamela Martin and Kevin Cook wrote the screenplay, an adaptation from Cook’s highly acclaimed book of the same name, which won the USGA’s Herbert Warren Wind Book of the Year Award in 2007.

The film has already received multiple awards, including the 2016 BAFTA Scotland Award for best feature film.

    Hopefully a golf movie can come out where the star golfer actually has a decent (believable) golf swing…

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

Kristoffer Reitan held his nerve at Quail Hollow on Sunday to claim his first PGA Tour victory and the $3.6 million winner’s check that came with it.
