In today’s Impact Show, we talk about how the trail leg can affect your club path. It is so important to understand how your trail leg should work for you in your golf swing. By watching this video hopefully you will understand what style can work for you.

This is only a guide based on what we see the majority of our students and all the videos of golf swings we get sent. You will also see on the professional tours different styles, for example Rickie Fowler — who won The Honda Classic just yesterday — allows his right leg to change flex in his backswing; this obviously works very well for him.

So before you make your mind up about what style of trail leg position you want in your backswing, make sure you understand its function to your results. Thanks everyone and we hope you enjoy the video!

Closed stance helps create an inside out path many folks struggle with….with that bein said, if the shoulders n chest start the derotation of the downswing, it’ll still come around on the ball outside in….
The closed stance itself doesn’t cause a draw or hook, that’ll ultimately be in the hands & clubface, but it’s a good place to start….

EVERYONE with bad back, restricted ROM, or hip/knee replacements/injuries should absolutely be using a closed stance & good spine (torso) tilt. Keep the hips centered between the heels – weight 50/50 – then make the tilt, keeping the lower body centered & weight even.

It’s anatomically more ‘correct’, easier to turn with
