An Up and Down Day for K.J. Choi

With a birdie barrage on the front nine and a remarkable short game display on the back nine, K.J. Choi chased down the title at Jack Nicklaus’s Memorial Tournament.

Korean born K.J. Choi learned how to play golf by watching instructional videos of Jack Nicklaus. Sunday afternoon, after posting the winning score of -17, K.J. Choi got the chance to shake Jack’s hand as the winner of he Memorial Tournament. Early in the day, as players were finishing two things were quite clear – the front nine was a birdie barrage and the back nine was playing brutal. Although Choi’s stellar front nine score of 30 was overshadowed by a phenomenal short game display as Choi chipped and putted his way right into the Memorial title.

After reeling off six birdies, including four in a row, Choi found himself in trouble several times on the back nine. Choi managed a text book par save on the 16th hole after short-siding himself in a green side bunker. On the par-4 17th, Choi’s approach found the gallery, but Choi chipped to fifteen feet and made his putt to save par, preserving his one shot lead. His approach at 18 again found the bunker, but once the sand settled his ball was five feet away and Choi easily sunk the putt and walked off the green to shake Jack Nicklaus’s hand as the clubhouse leader after shooting an impressive final round 65. When asked to recount how he felt today, Choi replied, "You know, interestingly enough, every time I’ve won on the Tour, I felt a similar type of feeling; that is, if you’re feeling too comfortable all the time, then something is about to go wrong. But if there’s a certain amount of tension, there’s a certain amount of pressure, not too much, a certain amount, where you’re able to deal with it, at one point there’s a point where you feel comfortable enough to overcome everything."

However, both Rod Pampling and second round leader Adam Scott were still on the course and two shots behind Choi. Pampling’s hopes were erased after his approach to the 17th sailed right over the flag and the green into the rough. After failing to get his chip on the green, Pampling had to settle for bogey and put his hopes for the Memorial title off for another year. Adam Scott stepped on the 17th tee just one shot behind Choi after birdies at 15 and 16. His three wood found the fairway, but after his approach missed the green, the 17th hole would also claim Adam Scott’s chances of catching Choi when he missed his six foot par putt. Sunday would remain Choi’s day, Choi had as many opportunities to falter as the other contenders, yet every time he found himself in trouble, he would walk to the next tee still in the lead after converting par save after par save while other competitors faltered.

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
