A bit disappointed in the podcast. I get that Artisen or the Oven are grinding the irons, and then perhaps sending them out to be plated; but you made no mention of WHO the house was that forged them? Meaning that these came in to the US raw and then were handled and made to order. Again by whom. I am a big fan of Kyoei forgings as I play a style that although are still available today, were tooled 30 years ago. Therefore, the Taylormade logo stamped on these is no different than a logo on a golf shirt and making a consumer think its a TM brand shirt.
So, who forged these irons is what I would like to know.
New to your pod’s – love them!

Tursky… I absolutely believe 100% that you will break 100 lefty by Labor Day. If for no other reason that you could probably bunt a 7 iron around and chip and putt your way to it. The reason I feel so confident is because the pro at our club about 10 years ago cut a ligament on the thumb of his left hand opening a box with a hook blade and had to get surgery to repair it. He couldn’t swing a club for several months so he played a few times one handed. He shot in the 90’s and that has to be way harder than left handed for a righty.

Tiger could still win with his bag of clubs from 2000 if He is in rythm and in the zone. Sure the new clubs go father but hitting the sweet spot and knowing your equipment is most important thing at a professional level. I had 975d 8.5 built like tigers back in the day 43.5 inches x100 bore thru. I actually played a track today I haven’t played in years and hit my M1 440 45.25 inches 20 yards short of a bunker that I flew the ball into once when I pured the 975d. Granted I didn’t pure the one today but it was not that bad 280 or so. Tiger could hit it 330 with his cobra deep face driver back in 1997. Sure he was younger but just goes to show old clubs hit mighty far in the right hands. Phil always said Tiger uses inferior equipment ? I think Tiger proved him wrong on that wise crack. I won a long drive contest 293 yards with the original warbird driver stock shaft back in 1997 or so. That same shot today maybe 320 with my M1 I think.

Game improvement irons are designed for a rearward center of gravity which will enhance ball height trajectory. Unfortunately it’s at the cost of reduced shaping shots.
Pure muscleback irons pull the CofG closer to the face and that allows for shot shaping. Tiger is going for ball control.
However, some pros will prefer a cavity-back long iron to loft the ball better. Tiger doesn’t need that with his 2-iron stinger shot that stays low and long.
Another consideration is the use of unorthodox GI irons with high clubhead speeds which eliminates shot shaping for pure distance play.

At least the new Irons have the announcers down on their knees in front of Tiger as usual, otherwise I don’t see them doing much for him. I like the comment about him going to a more of a G I club like a Ping, which by the way is what he started with as a teen. But it is hard to quit old habits and he has too many bad old habits.
I don’t respect the guy but I do wish him well, he is good for the game and the pathetic Golf Channel and there bunch of Clowns.
So there!

I’d really like to see Tiger make the switch to total game improvement cavity back irons like Ping or something. Might actually help his game.

It would not surprise me if Tursky sent a copy of this headline to his mother. Why would he? Simply because it would make her immensely proud to see her son’s name and Tiger’s so close together.
