USGA should allow removal of loose impediments within bunkers. I’ve hit more rocks or pebbles in a bunker than I ever have anywhere else on the course. Many lesser golf courses barely fill bunkers with adequate sand yet the Blue Bloods at the USGA thinks everyone is playing out of perfectly groomed conditions. WTF.

Everyone who signs up to play at a muni must go through an etiquette course on 1) how to rake a bunker when you’re finished 2) allowing others to play through and 3) if you see someone’s club at the green, don’t steal it… or at least have the stater tell them that

I’d change the etiquette that says a single doesn’t have to be permitted to play through. A lot of times I go by myself (don’t have a million golf buddies since I took up the sport at 50) and there’s nothing so frustrating as being behind a group of 25 year olds who take more time than a pro at the open as they’re lining up for their 4 putt, but completely ignore that I’m sitting on the bench for the 6th time.

If you don’t have a handicap, you must play the forward tees. No exceptions. Then depending on the course, apply maximums per tee set as appropriate. If you’re not a 4, no, you can’t play the black tees!

Steve, You said it. PACE. The game needs to speed up. Way too many golfers take TOO much time. 5 hour rounds are a complete joke. Crappy golfers watch the pros and think they need to “play” like the pros. Be ready when it is your turn

The one thing I would change about golf is making EVERY course that holds an event on TV (or every “famous” course) somewhat accessible to the public. Not necessarily ALL the time since private clubs are private clubs, but every club can afford to open up their clubs on average 5-10 days a year. I’ve been to top 10 private courses that literally had no one on the course certain days and I thought that was a crime!

Nah, we wouldn’t want you on any of our courses, you’d moan and groan about how the greens aren’t the same as you see them on TV, that you didn’t get to play from the Pro tees. You want access to those private and expensive Tour courses, go make some money and pay up like everybody else who’s a privileged member of such organizations. Otherwise, stay out!

You should rename your username to “I’m the problem with golf”

In this episode of the Club Junkie Podcast, we dive into one of the most interesting flatstick releases of the year with a full review of the new TaylorMade SYSTM 2 putters. After spending time on the greens, I break down what makes this design stand out, where it performs, and why it has me completely torn between loving it and fighting it. If you are into feel, alignment, and consistency, this is one you will want to hear about.

We also take a look at some of the putters in play on the PGA Tour last week. From familiar favorites to a few surprising setups, there is always something to learn from what the best players in the world are rolling with under pressure.

To wrap things up, I walk through the process of building a set of JP Golf Prime irons paired with Baddazz Gold Series shafts. From component selection to performance goals, this is a deep dive into what goes into creating a unique custom set and why this combo has been so intriguing.
