18Birdies adds strokes gained, GolfNow functions to app

Published

on

Golf utility app 18Birdies now features tee-time bookings through a partnership with GolfNow, which currently has over 8,000 courses worldwide in its database. Now the app’s more than one million users will be able to easily search and book tee times at any US course in the GolfNow system.

In addition, the mobile and social golf platform also integrated strokes gained scoring into the app.

“This is just the first step in providing stat-hungry golfers with meaningful insights on their game,” said 18Birdies founder and CEO, Eddy Lui.

“In the coming weeks, we will be using the data that our users capture to provide them with insights to help determine areas of improvement and how they can gain strokes by bettering specific aspects of their game. We’ll also show them how they compare against other handicaps and give a complete breakdown of their game (off the tee, approach shots, around the green, putting, etc.).”

Additional updates include: Apple Watch and Android Wear integration for GPS and score and stat-tracking, a player matching feature that lets users discover and connect with other golfers based on various criteria (location, age, skill level, etc), and a redesigned scoring page.

You can find an up-to-date list of the features and latest additions to 18Birdies here.

If you need data from an app to tell you where you have to improve… you are in a mess of confusion… find another game… 😛

Testing Lorem Ipsum

Published

on

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
