Cody Blick has clubs stolen before final round at Q-School, fires 63 with makeshift set to earn status
Web.com Tour Q-School is well known for being a gruelling process, and while 49 players graduated over the weekend, one man was forced to go to hell and back to do so.
Cody Blick sat three shots outside of the desired Top-40 heading into Sunday’s final round, and on waking up that morning to prepare for the biggest round of his life, the 25-year-old realized that his clubs had been stolen.
Blick took to social media immediately, desperately hoping that anyone could help him, offering $5k no questions asked should his clubs be returned.
Blick was unable to recover his clubs though, meaning he was forced to put together a mishmash of different clubs before Sunday’s final round. According to the Mackenzie Tour Twitter account, they consisted of the “Superintendent’s driver, pro shop’s wedges, random irons and a heavier than usual putter”.
Cody Blick (@codyblick) woke up this morning and realized his clubs had been stolen.
He proceeded to fire 63 with the Superintendent’s driver, pro shop’s wedges, random irons and a heavier than usual putter to earn guaranteed @WebDotComTour starts #Tourjectory pic.twitter.com/nhFOAveCs6

After all of that, Blick pulled off a miracle. The American fired a sensational round of nine-under par 63, which included birdies at his final three holes, to take him into the coveted Top-40.
Blick is now guaranteed starts at the first eight Web.com Tour events of next season, and after everything he went through, to say he earned those starts would be a massive understatement.

Testing Lorem Ipsum
What is Lorem Ipsum?
Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
Why do we use it?
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.

This is a cool story, but no one has mentioned anything about the medalist Danny Walker. He is a great kid from our area. Won the Florida HS Championship as a freshman. Golf Digest wrote a lousy article on his win, talked about everyone else but him.

Do you think his contract prohibits him from disclosing what clubs he used?

Just goes to show that all the ‘latest technology, club fitting, custom build/design…’ stuff we’re fed is just bullshit. Put a good swing on it and it’ll work.

Too bad he didn’t have those latest [Insert popular golf company here] irons with the [insert latest hot shaft] and the new [insert latest driver here] or he might have shot 59.
Sincerely,

Aha! But you forgot the putter! He might’ve putted like xhyte and shot 83 or something with a putter that just wasn’t giving him anything

In 2003 and a 2 Handicap I rented a set of callaway graphite shaft regular flex irons and woods. I used S/X shafts at the time. I shot 68

Nah. It just means with your extra overinflated ego you shouldn’t have been playing S or X shafts to begin with, whatwith your girly swing and all the R graphite works perfectly

These guys are really good golfers, yes a fit set helps but it shows that skill is he main thing. A custom fit set will help a higher handicap player over lower ones much more.
Johnny Penso
Dec 10, 2018 at 12:23 pm
Disagree. The more accurate and repeatable your swing is, the more you need clubs that are attuned to your exact swing properties since your margin of error is much, much smaller. Weekend golfers with double digit handicaps are generally very inconsistent and might not even notice large variations in club properties.
It’s only an anecdote but it plays into the narrative that fitting is overrated and that golfers can adapt to the small variations in club performance generated by fitting quite easily. Tweaking ball flights, launch angles and spin rates are quantifiable on a monitor but don’t necessarily translate to the scorecard unless you’re coming from a place where you are extremely poorly fitted.

here is it explained much more in detail. Yes low handicap golfers have better feel but they are really good.

Well that throws the whole theory of fitting out the window, huh. Nobody will spend money on fitting ever again.
Juststeve
Dec 10, 2018 at 11:44 am
I’m not sure that it throws out the “whole theory of fitting” but it does suggest that fitting is not essential to good scoring, something we should have remembered from a time before fitting became a business. When something becomes a business those working in the business describe what they are selling as more important than it is.

Tell me the set was put together by a fitter. No one can shoot 63 if the clubs aren’t fit to him.

Not only that they were forged butter blades, a ball that would not fly straight with woods that were actually made of wood, clue and screws. I mean come on guys, these guys are STUDS. They could go out and beat us with garden tools….aka “Tin Cup Style”
