Director of Original Content Johnny Wunder sat down with Justin Rose at the Honma launch event in California to discuss his switch to a relatively unknown and unproven brand (on the PGA Tour, at least), what the deciding factor was in making the move, and what’s in his bag.

Club Junkie WITB, week 15: Tied for first in league!
Right now, I am tied for first place in my league! Don’t worry, the wheels will fall off as we get further into the year, but let’s keep the train rolling with 14 brand new clubs this week. We are off on the back nine again, so the driver is back in, and the 7-wood is out, as the course dictates what clubs I tend not to use. Excited to get these New Level irons out there and see if I can catch some of that driver magic I had down at Pinehurst with the Wilson Dynapwr+.

Good luck Justin, now you can join the rest of the greedy mistakes. And Fred Wright, how do you know that TM decided to cut him out. I know they did that to Ernie.

Interesting comment on the look of an iron with a “pinched toe” giving that more up right appearance. Very cool to hear what some of these guys look for in appearance and how it affects their swing thoughts. Completely agree a flatter lying iron (like a long iron) promotes more wrist turn over to keep the ball from going right.
Great stuff!

Filmed on a rainy dark night in the Riviera Clubhouse. Gotta work with what you have.

Duhh….Rose switched to Honma because of Mark King. He was the one that signed Rose when he was with Taylormade and heavily influenced him to sign up with Honma since he is pretty much in charge of the company.

He signed with Honma because Taylormade decided to cut him from the “team.” Taylormade is paying Tiger and Rory a ton of money to carry the Taylormade brand and needed to cut cost so they reduced the pros on staff. First it was Sergio and now Rose.

Great content. Refreshing to see Rose comment on the Axis putter like he did — no point in beating around the bush that the Axis is an ugly stick. Tour pros are usually so vanilla in their commentary and try to couch everything to protect sponsorships; it was nice to hear some honest shop talk from a gear-head golfer.
