Every review of every personal launch monitor I’ve ever listened to or watched, everyone says, “What do you expect, it’s only $500!” I get it, compared to Trackman at $20k+, what do you expect? I’ll tell you what I expect, I expect it to do at least one thing well. $500 is still a lot of money for most people. How about just giving me accurate carry distance for all clubs, not just the long irons or the short irons, all clubs. If someone could make a personal launch monitor that can give me accurate carry distances I’d buy one tomorrow.

You make a very valid point BE. $500 to most golfers is a lot more money than I originally thought.

Hi Kundson, I apologize if my comments sounded a bit snippy. I was really talking less about the money really and more on the fact that none of these devices that I’ve researched do any one thing really well. Whether it’s ball speed, spin, distance, smash factor, etc. results seem to be all over the place. For me, I just want to know how far I’m carrying the ball. If someone could make a portable device that gave Trackman like results just for carry distance and nothing else, I’d be all over it. As it is now, I’m taking more of a wait and see approach.

I really like my Flightscope MEVO for personal use, and I think its very proficient in carry distances.

I teach with the Xi Tour, and side by side, carry distance is pretty darn close. I think the MEVO isn’t great with smash or spin, but it works solidly enough to get the idea.

That being said, most golfers that I’ve worked with don’t even begin understand 20 of the 25 things the Xi gives you so I have tinkered with the idea of just going to the MEVO and only displaying distance.

We also take a look at some of the putters in play on the PGA Tour last week. From familiar favorites to a few surprising setups, there is always something to learn from what the best players in the world are rolling with under pressure.

To wrap things up, I walk through the process of building a set of JP Golf Prime irons paired with Baddazz Gold Series shafts. From component selection to performance goals, this is a deep dive into what goes into creating a unique custom set and why this combo has been so intriguing.
