TG2: How many yards are worth $550 to you? 5, 10, 20 yards?

Published

on

We debate how many yards in a fitting are worth a new driver price of $550? What club metrics do you use to determine if the price of a club is worth a purchase. Rob still has mini driver love and Knudson is still hitting his prototype shaft really well!

I’d pay for accuracy on mishits. Yardage is pure speed of swing as there’s only so much ball speed a driver can give you. However, ball speed on off-center strikes is more important. Golf is a game of misses after all.

    OMG LESSONS!!1

Ugh. I don’t understand this obsession with extra yards and fitting. Maybe that’s the point, but if you go to a $550 fitting and only talk max distance, you had a terrible fitting. It should cover a lot more than just a driver combo.

Caution: half the driver is the shaft you have.

A favored driver head with an new shaft to reflect swing changes may pay off more than a “new” driver.

It’s not yards. It’s lower scores. for $550 I’d need to see my handicap drop 2 strokes (at 6 now). Thing is, that $550 is better spent on lessons which would have a better ROI.

I’d need at least 25-30 yards for a $550 price tag. Been gaming my current driver for a while now. I test a new driver every so often, but the distances are to similar for me to want to go out and drop that on a new club.

    550, I would want 20 yards.
    300 for 10 yards

I don’t buy drivers that often, so the money I would win from my buddies should pay for itself 😉
