Club Building 101: How to properly turn down iron ferrules
Our resident master club builder Ryan Barath shows the proper technique for turning down ferrules to get the professionally finished shape and look.

How do you properly prepare a ferrule on finishes like black oxide, oil can, etc. I have been just prepping the ferrule to fit flush once installed. Is there an easier way of doing this?

Shouldn’t be a huge issue, but you can use a thin piece of masking or scotch tape below the ferrule to protect the oxide and finish from the belt if you’re really worried.

The belt in question is a standard 1X42″ durabrite belt from Golf Works. Its way easier on the ferrules than a linen one and does a way better job at slowly taking off material.
