Adam Scott’s winning WITB: 2020 Genesis Invitational

Published

on

Driver: Titleist TS4 (10.5 degrees, A1 SureFit setting, 2-gram weight)
Shaft: Mitsubishi Kuro Kage XTS 80 X

  • Scott put the Kuro Kage in play this week. Per Titleist’s J.J. VanWezenbeeck, “Adam Scott switched to the TS4 driver at the ZoZo Championship due to head size, shape, and improved launch to spin ratios. This week, after discussions with Adam, he went to a shaft he had previously played for increased stability. He felt the shaft went a little far and he lost head feel. We went on course with lead tape to get the feels to match up then weighted the head to preferred swing weight after testing.”

3-wood: Titleist TS2 (16.5 degrees, A1 SureFit setting)
Shaft: Fujikura Rombax P95 X

Irons: Titleist 716 T-MB (3-iron), Titleist 680 (4-9 irons)
Shafts: KBS Tour 130 X

Wedges: Titleist Vokey Design SM8 (48.08F, 52.08F, 56.10S), Vokey Design SM8 WedgeWorks (60.06K)
Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold AMT Tour Issue X100

Putter: Scotty Cameron Xperimental Prototype Rev X11 (long)

Ball: Titleist Pro V1

Scott marks his ball with dots in the pattern of the Southern Cross, which is featured on the Australian flag.

As previously mentioned, he uses the 2015-2016 Pro V1. Great ball. Great feel. No wonder his driver spin is up, but I understand why. He’s oldschool. He hits flat bullets that hang in the air downrange whereas the typical low spin flight today is this ugly arching moonball. The 2017 and 2019 Pro V1’s keep cutting back on the spin which isn’t a good idea with a low trajectory ball.

Anyone know what Scotts driver angle of attack is? His ball speed was in the high 170s all week (faster than Rory on several occasions) but he was consistently 20 yards behind Rory. In 2019 he was #1 in driver spin rate at 3400 RPM (horrendous). I suspect his angle of attack is -4 or so.

Two putters? A scotty and a L.A.B. Golf B.2 – was he using one to lag with? I didn’t get a chance to tune in to see any of it.

    The 52 deg wedge says 12 F and not 8 F.

TS4 is the best driver I’ve hit. Russell Henley has it in the bag along with Max Homa. 460 drivers are overrated

Greg…never too late to improve your craft…get courageous and take some iron face shots. If it’s a bandwidth issue…you can leave out the sweet pics of the grips (cuz those are awesome).. I have faith in ya!

I like a face shot as much as the next man: but, as this is a ‘what is in the bag’ feature and not a ‘witb and let us see how consistent is your strike’ feature, I can understand why the faces are not photographed.

Not just any Pro V1. The 2015 Pro V1. Best ball ever.
