Country Club Adjacent: A new golf/comedy podcast for your listening library

Comedian Jake Adams has written for GolfWRX in the past, penning a hilarious piece on the pitfalls of going to “golf college” last year.

So, when we heard the California-based comedian was launching a golf-related podcast, we were intrigued and tracked down the former country club caddie to learn more.

Here’s what Adams had to say about his new podcast, Country Club Adjacent.

GolfWRX: What is Country Club Adjacent?

Jake Adams: In short, it’s a podcast hosted by stand-up comedian Jake Adams (me). Each week there will be a different stand-up comedian guest giving their unique take on golf culture. (Most recently, it was comedian Gavin Matts).

GolfWRX: What made you want to make content for golf culture?

Jake Adams: I’ve been doing stand-up comedy for almost nine years and basically spent the first eight not making any golf jokes. There didn’t seem to be a lot of crossover between people who played golf and those who went to stand-up shows. Also, my day job was being a caddie at a country club, and I had to hear all the jokes members would make. They were 99 percent of the time not very funny, which was frustrating because I had to fake laugh because being a caddie is basically getting paid to hang out with rich people. This really made me pull back from wanting to make any jokes about the culture around golf.

This was until when I started to feel like I found my voice in comedy, and I decided to make some videos for golf but in a way that was funny to me. They actually ended up catching on pretty quickly and because it’s such a specific niche in comedy. I have been able to get a lot of work making content within the golf industry.

GolfWRX: What are some of the jobs you have done within the golf industry?

Jake Adams: I wrote a Farmers Insurance commercial with Rickie Fowler this year. The one where he dresses up as an undercover caddy. It was pretty cool to get to meet Rickie and be in his ear telling him to do some pretty silly things. I have a web series on Funny or Die right now called “Comedians Playing Golf.” I got to do stand up for golf companies like Urban Golf Performance, and a few country clubs. Also on my Instagram @jakemadams3, I’ve released videos every week ranging from trying to give Matt Kucher’s caddie an extra 20 bucks to playing golf in a supermarket.

GolfWRX: What are your goals for comedy and the podcast?

Jake Adams: I want to combine both worlds in stand up and golf. I think there are so many people out there like me who love golf but hate the traditional values surrounding the culture. I know that bringing stand-up comics into the world of golf will help accelerate breaking down the walls that are keeping a lot of people away from the game.

Other than that, I would love to influence the culture in a way where I can join a golf club and not get kicked out for wearing a tee-shirt. I don’t understand why people pay so much money to do a thing, and then have to dress a certain way. This seems so backwards to me. If anything, kick people out for wearing vests—they look goofy and are the visor of the sweater world.

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
