WGC Match Play Tour Truck Report: New putters for Kuchar, McIlroy, Poulter

Published

on

With a field of just 64 players at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in Texas—and some trucks not making the nearly 20-hour trip between PGA National and Austin Country Club—there’s not a massive amount to report this week.

Nevertheless, we’re preparing a plate with the ingredients we have in the GolfWRX kitchen!

Titleist

Switching away from his Odyssey White Hot XG 7, long-time Titleist staffer Ian Poulter is gaming a new Scotty Cameron Phantom X 11 Prototype putter.

Callaway

Si Woo Kim has a new set of Apex TCB irons and a PM Grind 64-degree wedge.

Fresh grooves Jon Rahm in his Jaws Forged wedges. 52-10, 56-12, 60-10. Project X 6.5 shafts.

Kevin Na is in new Epic Speed 3 and 5-woods. He’s sticking with Mitsubishi Diamana RF 70 TX and 80 TX shafts, respectively.

Ping

Viktor Hovland tested Ping Blueprints on TrackMan but is sticking with his i210’s for now.

Andy Sullivan moved into a  G425 3-wood with a Fujikura Ventus Blue shaft.

Corey Conners, Tyrrell Hatton, Bubba Watson, and Louis Oosthuizen may all play new Glide Pro Forged wedges.

TaylorMade

Rory McIlroy tested Fujikura Ventus Blue shafts in his fairway wood (8 X and 9 X, respectively).

McIlroy was also spotted returning to the eight-armed embrace of the TaylorMade Spider X putter family. Interestingly, rather than the pistol grip he’s favored in the past, Rory has a TaylorMade SuperStroke tour grip on the wand.

Tommy Fleetwood put a new SIM2 Max 21-degree fairway wood and MG Hi-Toe 52-degree wedge in play.

Dustin Johnson, who has been in a 10.5-degree SIM head is putting a SIM2 Max in play. 10.5 degrees.

Collin Morikawa put a new MG2 50 degree in play.

Non-staffer Hideki Matsuyama switched into a SIM UDI 3-iron—and added a yardstick to the bag.

Others

OG of armlock putting, Matt Kuchar has a new Bettinardi KM2 DASS VWS putter in the bag.

Additional details on Kuchar’s putter via the folks at Bettinardi.

Material: DASS (Double Aged Stainless Steel)
Neck: Welded Mid-Slant (2.5 Shafts of offset to provide proper visual)
Face Milling: F.I.T. Face (Feel Impact Technology)
Finish: Black Oxide

“Designed and engineered by Robert Bettinardi in 2015-16, and his Tour department for Matt Kuchar, the KM2 DASS VWS to add weights to the top muscles to get the ball into a true roll faster.”

Patrick Reed was spotted testing a TPT shaft.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
