LPGA pro shares catastrophic effect of Kentucky tornado; fellow pros offer support

The world watched astounded as tornadoes ripped through Southern and Midwest states last Friday evening, with the Southeastern state of Kentucky one of those hardest hit.

LPGA player and Kentucky native Emma Talley was clearly one of the most concerned, tweeting, “Please pray for my hometown of Princeton, KY…tornado hit hard and lots of houses completely gone. We are hoping everyone is safe but won’t know until the morning. Pray pray pray, please. So scared.”

Sadly the scale of the destruction started to emerge over the next few hours, with at least 80 Kentucky residents among at least 90 fatalities reported in the region.

Just after the weekend, Talley, posting as @ertalley, shared shocking images of her hometown in ruin, and the website continue with a heart-wrenching statement that ‘with a population of only 6,000, Princeton residents are doing everything they can to piece together their homes, including sorting through the debris by hand.’

Talley informed of the devastation, writing, “Here are a few pictures of my hometown. It got beat up by the tornado a few days ago. My mom says it is way worse than the pictures. So many of our friends lost everything. My parents have been going through rubble of friends’ homes to try and find sentimental items.”

The local Chamber of Commerce has organized a GoFundMe appeal fund to provide disaster relief to families badly affected by the ravaging tornadoes, a plea shared by the player herself. Her story then struck the hearts of several LPGA and PGA Tour players, who quickly offered their support and shared the fundraising effort on their own social media platforms.

Justin Thomas, a fellow Kentucky native, posted the appeal on his Instagram, spreading awareness about Talley’s hometown and the disaster relief efforts.

Thomas wrote, “So sad. Thinking of @ertalley and her friends/families and everyone affected. Every cent/dollar helps.”

Along with JT, Nelly Korda, the leading player on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking, also expressed her sympathy for those affected by the destruction and encouraged her followers to contribute to relief efforts: “So, so sad. Help spread the word and donate to the people affected by this awful tragedy.”

The GoFundMe that Talley and others have shared currently has raised over $83k in disaster relief.

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
