‘A lot of Korn Ferry Tour players are going to get rich’ – KFT players flock to second Saudi event

Having kept quiet during the lead up and play during The Masters, the organisers of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational Series have come back with a bang.

After reports of ‘marquee names’ signing for the first event in June, at the Centurion Golf Club in London, journalist Steve DiMeglio tweeted yesterday that one player told him that, after registration forms had been emailed for the second event, “a lot of Korn Ferry Tour players are going to get rich.”

Told players started receiving emails to register for second LIV Golf series event, to be played in Portland July 1-3 opposite John Deere Classic. As 1 player told me: "A lot of Korn Ferry Tour players are going to get rich."

The LIV plan eight events to run from the beginning of June to the end of October, with the first three clashing with a trio of established PGA Tour tournaments – RBC Canadian Open, John Deere Classic and the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

With the Tour Championship at East Lake scheduled for the last weekend of August, the remaining five do not look as if they will affect the PGA Tour but, with a DP World Tour event held each week of the LIV events, there may be a mini tremor felt at the Irish Open in July and potentially at the HSBC Champions in Sheshan, clashing with the Team Championship at a venue yet to be announced.

Should the top Korn Ferry Tour players continue to be tempted by the opportunity to play, the vital Korn Ferry Tour Championship is set opposite The International, to be held in Boston.

With social media full of speculation who may have signed, the players themselves have not stepped forward to proclaim their allegiance or otherwise.

Already within a few months, golf fans have seen world number 29, Jason Kokrak, go from having ‘Golf Saudi’ emblazoned on his bag and saying, “I want to make as much money as I can in as little time,” to having the logo removed.

Reports earlier this week suggested four names had ‘signed up’ to the league and, whilst mentioned as one of those, Kevin Na commented this week that, “I haven’t signed anything.”

Until Greg Norman makes an official announcement, the list of participants remains nothing more than rumor and speculation, although the likes of Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas have stated they will be loyal to the PGA Tour.

Even the players seem to have little idea.

Back in February, Kramer Hickock commented that, “I think there’s already been 17 guys that have jumped over,” before withdrawing the comment, whilst recently, Max Homa tweeted he knows “absolutely nothing about what’s going on.”

The Saudi LIV league certainly appears to be going ahead and it won’t be long before confirmation of those that have signed up are revealed, with Norman saying recently:

“Quite honestly, it doesn’t matter who plays, we’re going to put the event on. There’s a $4m first prize. I hope a kid who’s 350th in the world wins. It’ll change his life, his family’s life. And then a few of our events will go by and the top players will see someone winning $6m, $8m, and say ‘enough is enough, I know I can beat these guys week in week out with my hands tied behind my back’.”

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
