Bryson undergoes successful surgery on fractured wrist; likely to miss 2 majors
On Thursday, Bryson DeChambeau revealed that he has had successful surgery on his broken left wrist.
The 2020 U.S. Open Champion reportedly fractured a bone in his hand and injured his hip when he slipped on a marble floor while playing table tennis back in February.
DeChambeau took six weeks off in an attempt to recover but recently came back just to miss the cut at the Valero Texas Open and The Masters Tournament.
“This has not been easy physically and mentally for me,” he said.
“I made attempts to play through this injury at three recent events, including the Masters, but this is typically an injury that requires surgical treatment,” he said in an Instagram post.
The 28-year-old said he hopes to be back competing “at the highest level” within the next two months, meaning he is all but guaranteed to miss the PGA Championship which begins on May 19th at Southern Hills Country Club, and also likely to miss out on the US Open in June.
“Through continued discomfort from the fracture, it has caused me to alter my grip and swing, resulting in my inability to compete at golf’s highest level” Dechambeau said in an Instagram post.
It’s been a year to forget for DeChambeau, as he’s dropped all the way to 19th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Photos from the 2026 PGA Championship
GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.

Great lifestyle guys career is about as fragile as his brittle body. Wishing him the best , David Duval 2
The truth is out there

Conspiracy Theory: he’s have certain ligaments and bones in his wrist fused together to eliminate abduction, flexion, supination, etc. making his hand and wrist action more robotic and predictable. He’s already created a set and swing to provide more consistency, and drastically changed his body to add power… why wouldn’t be continue to change himself in ways to create more consistency? If anyone would go that far to be better, it should be the Bryentist himself.

Beating it too much is a lifestyle. If you treat it more like an art form you’ll have better longevity.

Wish Bryson the best. As quirky as he may be, he’s obviously someone driven to excel in the game I love, and I respect that.

I used to do a lot of hand surgery when I was working.
All they did was put a canulated screw into the bone to bring the fracture together.
One thing can happen is cracking the bone with the screw. But
If you’re working with a specialist it can still happen.

I wonder if he’ll learn that golf is a game of beauty and finesse. Thread the needle, don’t drive a Mack truck thru every golf course.
