Phil Mickelson requests release to play Saudi Golf League ahead of comeback
Phil Mickelson is on the brink of his comeback to golf after submitting entry forms for both next month’s PGA Championship and June’s U.S. Open.

In addition to those two majors, Mickelson has also submitted a request for a release to play in the Saudi-backed LIV Golf opener at the Centurion Club in June.
Earlier this year, Lefty took a leave from golf after suffering severe backlash for his controversial comments on the Saudi Golf League, the Saudi regime and how he was using the Tour as leverage against the PGA Tour.
However, Mickelson is now one of the 15 players within the top-100 in the Official World Golf Rankings to request a release to play on the new mega-money Tour.
In a statement issued from Phil’s agent Steve Loy at SportFive agency, it was revealed that despite Mickelson’s request, he “has no concrete plans” on when or where he’ll play and is currently keeping “all options open.”.
Read the full statement below.
“Our client Phil Mickelson is officially registered to play in the PGA Championship as well as the U.S. Open,” the statement read.
We have also filed a request on his behalf for a release to play in the first LIV Golf Invitational in London, June 9 – 11. This request complies with the deadline of April 25 set forth by the PGA Tour to compete in a conflicting tour event.
Phil currently has no concrete plans on when and where he will play. Any actions taken are in no way a reflection of a final decision made, but rather to keep all options open.”

Testing Lorem Ipsum
What is Lorem Ipsum?
Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
Why do we use it?
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

Photos from the 2026 PGA Championship
GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.

Let Phil do what he wants. I can’t see anything wrong with what he’s doing. He’s only doing what we all strive to do. Doing what’s best for your family. And all these self righteous A-hole hypochristians keep your holier than thou opinions to yourself.

Has anybody been given a chance to ask Phil straight-up the simple question; “Are you suspended from the PGA Tour?”
Anyway, this should work out okay for Phil; his involvement with Saudi Arabia has been as personally beneficial for him as Jack Nicklaus’ political endorsement of Donald Trump in 2020.

Whats the problem? Saudi is ruled by Sharia law, and CNN tells me Islam is a peaceful religion.
