Spotted: Titleist Pro V1x Plus golf ball

At the 2023 Zurich Classic, our own Andrew Tursky spotted a new Titleist Pro V1x Plus golf ball. This new ball is a Custom Performance Department (CPO) option that was created while working with PGA and LPGA Tour players.

The only detail we were told is that it is a higher-spinning option that a few players on tour have been trying out. The Pro V1x is already Titleist’s highest-spinning, highest-flying golf ball, so an even higher-spinning variant is certainly interesting.

According to Titleist, Billy Horschel has the Pro V1x Plus in play, and Scott Piercy has been testing it with positive results. There has been a little more adoption on the LPGA Tour where Matilda Castren, Azahara Munoz, and Patty Tavatanakit have put the ball in play.

Reached for comment, Titleist offered the following:

“While the vast majority of Tour players play a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, there are a few that play custom performance options (CPO’s) – such as Pro V1x Left Dash, Pro V1 Left Dot and now Pro V1x Plus. These CPO’s are designed to fit players with very unique launch conditions as well as evaluate forward looking technologies.” – Eric Soderstrom, Titleist, Senior Manager, Tour Communications

    I caddied for Mark O’Meara the other day at his club in Park City this was the ball he was trying out. They came in white boxes.

    I thought developing a pro only ball would cost millions and it would make the game more expensive for everyone because the manufacturers would have to develop and produce products that few people would buy???

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

Kristoffer Reitan held his nerve at Quail Hollow on Sunday to claim his first PGA Tour victory and the $3.6 million winner’s check that came with it. The Norwegian fended off a packed leaderboard on a dramatic final day, with Rickie Fowler and Nicolai Højgaard both taking home $1.76 million for their runner-up finishes.
