Spotted: Will Gordon’s Callaway prototype wedge (Proto-NC)
It is exciting to see the PGA Tour back in action, and this week Will Gordon had a special wedge in the bag. The wedge is a Callaway prototype with “Proto-NC” etched into the back of it. Callaway’s text and Chevron logo are out on the toe, but those are the only markings we can see on this new wedge. Will must have had this wedge for a little while now as it is quite rusty, except for the sole. The rust lets us know that the head is made from carbon steel and that sole looks like it just recently came off the grinding wheel.
The wider sole looks to have a good amount of heel, toe, and trailing edge relief in order to allow opening of the face while keeping the leading edge close to the turf. There are no loft markings on the sole, but from the looks of it, I would guess that we are looking at a lob wedge between 58 and 60 degrees.

Will has this wedge shafted up with a True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 Tour Issue steel shaft and a Golf Pride Tour Velvet Cord grip.

WITB Time Machine: Rory McIlroy’s winning WITB, 2021 Truist Championship
Rory McIlroy’s victory at the 2021 Wells Fargo Championship 2021 (now the Truist Championship) marked a significant return to form, as he captured his 19th PGA Tour title. After starting the tournament slowly and sitting well off the pace early, McIlroy surged back into contention with strong weekend play, ultimately closing with a final-round 68 to finish at 10-under par.
Here’s a look at what McIlroy had in play five years ago.
