Gianni: So this was first reported by Golfweek’s Beth Ann Nichols. So rounds at last week’s Founders Cup, the median time for threesomes in round one and two were four and a half hours on Thursday and four hours, 23 minutes on Friday. And for the final round of twosomes, they were played in a median of three hours and 48 minutes. And this is a far cry from last November when the Annika, I mean, rounds were taking five and a half hours, so this is big improvement already.

Ben: Yeah, pretty wild. Again, for as bold as the action was and the indication that action would be taken at all, to see an immediate impact of that magnitude. And again, I have not dug into nor heard, I guess I’d have to hear it before I dug into it, right? But any player grumbling about being forced, I’m sure in the perception of some, to play faster. So trying to be mindful of that, but would seem a massive success even at this point.

Gianni: Yeah, it’s gonna be interesting to see the next few weeks whether this is just a knee-jerk reaction to that or people are really gonna be mindful about their timekeeping now. But I think the next couple of weeks will give us an indication of whether this is really gonna work or not. But either way, it’s gonna come down to, even if it doesn’t, it’s gonna come down to how the LPGA really decide to be, whether they decide to be lenient or really no tolerance with their time, with the times they’ve put out, because if they go over by one or two, they have to punish them. Otherwise, it’s just, this isn’t going to work.

Ben: Yeah, I agree with that. mean, it’s going to need to be…a serious policy rather than something toothless. And of course, you know, awaiting further announcements, similar announcements from any of the men’s professional circuits and when they may come, if at all.

Gianni: They’ve got to come. They will come up at some stage. That’s inevitable in my opinion, whether it’s going to be as a reaction to this or they’ll do their own thing, it will be interesting to see.

Ben: I think we talked last week about the opportunity to collect some data here and do a bit of beta testing. So now they have a little bit of data. It’ll be interesting as they continue to gather some more if it’s similar. Yeah, it’s tough to see them not needing to do something, wanting to do something. would be, the optics of that would not be great.

Gianni: With the threat of taking shots on the PGA tour, like that’s a big impact into people’s paycheck at the end of the week, it’s costing them spots. I can’t think of anything more they could do. So the LPGA has really gone strong there with the threat of penalties.

Ben: Yeah, mean, shots are the of the essence. know, it’s been we hear it talked about ad nauseum, you know, “every shot counts,” that type of thing. End of the year, this versus that. So it’s a real penalty. And yeah, I mean, credit to them, but very interesting to see to see folks picking up the pace. would be I’d be interested to see or to hear kind of internally what the messaging has been like to the players sort of, you know? This is all for the greater good. This is this is for the future of our product here. This is what the audience wants. And without an audience, we don’t have anything. You know, is that kind of what’s being communicated with the subtext being, “Hey, don’t complain about this?”
