Tour Mash: Jaeger shoots 58, Jutanugarn gets the job done

Remember that week when two major championships were played, and the story of the week came from neither? It just happened, and the story of the week was Stephen Jaeger’s GOAT (Greatest of All-Time) performance at the Ellie Mae Classic on the Web.Com Tour. Props to Ariya Jutanugarn (we’ll get to her) and Jimmy Walker (read about him here) on their major wins. Now, on with the tour mash.

Jaeger-Meister, Meister-Jaeger has 58 on way to Web.Com Tour win

Stephan Jaeger had a three-putt during his round of 58. He really did. He tri-whacked the third green for par, or he would have started his back nine with six straight birdies. Dude had 12 birds and 6 pars to go that low. He followed it with 65, 64, 63 and won by 7 shots over Rhein Gibson, who once shot 55 in practice. Jaeger had a four-round total of 250; think about that for a moment. That’s the three-round score in most B-flight club championships. Gibson felt good about winning the A flight of the Ellie Mae Classic, since Jaeger was the only guy in the Championship flight. There are no words, just sighs and head nods.

Ariya Jutanugarn claims first major title at British Open

Ariya Jutanugarn should have won the year’s first major, the ANA Inspiration. She could have won the second one, the Women’s PGA. Between the two, she won three consecutive LPGA tournaments in May. This Sunday, the kid from Thailand finally got that major thing done. She held off Mo Martin, the 2014 champion, and Mirim Lee, by three strokes, to claim the British Open title at storied Woburn in England. On a day when no one in the mix shot below 70, and scores in the 60s served to move also-rans closer to the top 10, Jutanugarn played her typical round of birdies and odd holes, shot even par, and said, thank you very much, great to be a major champion.

Aaron Wise wins Oil Country Championship on Mackenzie Tour-PGA Canada

It would have made a great headline if Brock Mackenzie had won on the Mackenzie Tour this week. Aaron Wise did just enough to postpone that exciting possibility. Despite a bogey on the penultimate hole, Wise finished at 19-under par, then held his breath as Mackenzie and Puma Dominguez tried to equal his total. Neither Dominguez (Argentina) nor Mackenzie (USA) could birdie the last, and the title belonged to Wise. A mere 20 years of age, the victory was Wise’ first professional win, coming on the heels of his 2016 NCAA Division I individual championship. Wise moved to 4th on the money list; the top-5 receive Web.Com Tour cards for the next season.

Chan Shih-chang triumphant on Asian Tour

Chan of Chinese Taipei began round four with a one-shot lead over South Africa’s Jaco Ahlers. While Ahlers went the wrong way from the start (74 for T15) Chan battled to the end with countryman Lin Wen-tang. Despite not having won on the Asian Tour in four seasons, Chan played like a champion and held off Lin by two strokes, finishing at 12-under. Chan began play on the Asian Tour in 2015, but was forced to return to qualifying school to regain his privileges for this season. After this week’s performance in Thailand, Chan can breathe a bit easier.

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

The tournament’s location, just outside Philadelphia, and its status as a major championship mean GolfWRXers are in for a treat: WITBs from a strong field, custom gear celebrating the PGA Championship, and the rich culture of the City of Brotherly Love — we have noted a relative absence of cheesesteak-themed items thus far this week, but most of the rest of the usual suspects are well represented.
