Tweets of the week: Gary Player’s feat of strength, Sir Nick needs help, and more

This week’s edition of “Tweets” is a motley collection, featuring news of everything from Lydia Ko’s official status as a Callaway staffer to Nick Faldo’s difficulty with his BlackBerry. In other news, Nick Faldo still has a BlackBerry.

Last week, Jimmy Walker lifted the trophy at the Sony Open in Hawaii for his second “W” in the past three months (Walker won the Frys.com open in October). Although he’s a more prolific poster of ridiculously beautiful skyscapes and nature scenes and retweeting, Walker did take to Twitter following the win.

Jhonny Vegas (never to be confused with English comic Johnny Vegas), who had shoulder surgery in 2013, is getting his game back in shape. Vegas has teed it up three times during the 2013-2014 season and has two made cuts under his belt. In a small sample, he’s 133rd in strokes gained putting, so seeking out the putting guru is a prudent move.

Colt Knost tweeted the following photo of one of his “favorite people in all the world,” Luke List. Hopefully they removed the baby from the stroller before the silly photo. Happy 29th, Sir Double L.

From Double L to DL III, Davis Love tweeted the following shot of his gear-filled locker, featuring Kingmade Jerkey, which seems to be the primary form of sustenance for professional golfers.

If you follow the third-place finisher at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions on Twitter, you know that Kevin Streelman and wife recently had a child. And if you follow a multitude of professional golfers on Twitter, you know they often receive trinkets from their sponsors after bringing new life into the world. This putter (and its headcover), courtesy of Scotty Cameron,  is one of the cooler gifts.

Breaking news: Bubba Watson is tweeting something a.) related to one of his sponsors b.) involving a “cool” golf cart. It’s here because you’ll probably hear it somewhere else, as its newsworthy when Bubba does crazy things like getting free golf carts.

Here’s something actually newsworthy: As we reported recently, Lydia Ko has joined Callaway Golf. She tweeted the following selfie with her new staff hat.

Nicholas Thompson snapped a picture with President Bill Clinton, who is the master of ceremonies of sorts at the Humana Challenge.

Of course, in the “Distinguished Individuals at the Humana Challenge Department,” Gary Player took the cake. We’ve all heard his “1000 sit-ups a day” comments throughout the years. Apparently, he wasn’t kidding, as he invited Amanda Balionis to….stand on his stomach. Reminder: Player is 78, folks.

And, as you’ll see in this video Amanda Balionis posted on Twitter, he still has game…and I’m not talking about his golfing proficiency.

    I was interested to learn more about the man who designed golf course near my place (Lustica Peninsula – Montenegro). I see know that he is big deal in the golf world (forgive my ignorace, still learning)

2026 PGA Championship betting odds

Scottie Scheffler leads the betting ahead of the second major championship of the year, with the World Number One a +345 favorite to get his hands on a second PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy who won the Masters back in April is a +800 shot to complete half of the calendar slam at Aronimink Golf Club this week, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at +5900 to become a career grand slam winner.

GolfWRX is on site for the second major of 2026: The PGA Championship from Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

Kristoffer Reitan held his nerve at Quail Hollow on Sunday to claim his first PGA Tour victory and the $3.6 million winner’s check that came with it. The Norwegian fended off a packed leaderboard on a dramatic final day, with Rickie Fowler and Nicolai Højgaard both taking home $1.76 million for their runner-up finishes.
